Joseph?

Morning,

DS1 is due in Feb and we're pretty certain we're going to go with Joseph. He'll take DP's surname which is Anthony. Does that sound alright, or is two first names a no no?

is it anth-ony or ant-ony
first one is a bit of a mouthful
but how many times will he say his full name??

StealthPolarBear · 20/11/2009 08:52

congratulations btw

jumpjockey · 20/11/2009 08:52

Lovely name but if you're worried about two 'first' names, could ds take your surname instead? Or a double barrelled one? Not sure there's a way round it otherwise!

castille · 20/11/2009 08:54

Indeed, no way round the two first names thing, unless you call your DS Jones

Joseph is a lovely name.

blametheparents · 20/11/2009 09:24

Joseph is a lovely name, will prob get shortened to Joe at times though so do youlike that too?

Initio · 20/11/2009 09:25

Thanks all! It's Ant-ony. The kicker is it used to be Hill, but he changed it (to honour his grandfather).

My surname is Jackson, and Joe Jackson is Michael's horrible dad, or that singer from the 80s...hmmm. And Joseph Jackson Anthony is just too much.

I don't mind Joe at all. Joey is not cool though.

lovely name

MissWooWoo · 20/11/2009 09:38

Joe is a good solid, get's along with everyone kind of name. I haven't yet met a Joe I don't like.

bamboo · 20/11/2009 09:43

Sounds fine to me. I have a Joseph (Joe for short I'd anticipated) but he does get called Joey by the older kids I'm afraid so it kind of sticks . Also gets JoJo - I blame Waybuloo.

StealthPolarBear · 20/11/2009 09:44

hang on a minute - I always thought that 80s singer was Michael's dad

ChickandDuck · 20/11/2009 09:47

Friend has just called her baby Joseph, lovely lovely name.

Congratualtions by the way! x

Initio · 20/11/2009 09:49

Thanks everyone, I'm going to go with it.
JoJo is cute though, as is MoJo

StealthPolarBear - I may have got my wires crossed but I swear a Joe Jackson sings that Is She Really Going Out With Him song. Never mind - tomato, tomato.

and don't forget the fabulous Joe Jackson song "Stepping Out".

cumbria81 · 20/11/2009 11:17

I like it!

birdofthenorth · 20/11/2009 11:18

Joseph is gorgeous and I like Joe too... but Joe Anthony is a bit hard to say with the two vowel sounds close together if he wanted to abbreviate it later in life. Joseph Anthony sounds fine though. Congrats!

GhoulsAreLoud · 20/11/2009 11:55

Love love love it.

If this baby is a boy he will be Joseph James.

minkiemoo · 26/11/2009 22:05

Love the name Joseph, and think Joseph Anthony is fine.

jellybeans · 27/11/2009 09:40

I love it, sounds fine with Anthony as surname.

loobylu3 · 27/11/2009 10:31

Joseph is lovely and it's fine with the sn too.
