Tristan or Noah-help!

I'm pregnant and found we are having a boy, due in January. We have had such a time trying to figure out what we should call him. I've always loved the name Tristan and if my daughter was a boy, that would have been her name. But I think I have worn it out after I had my daughter. So we tried to come up with another name and came up with Noah. So I'm curious to know which one would you choose? Thanks for the help

Prefer Noah.

bogie · 12/11/2009 17:01

Noah is nicer I have a distant relative called Tristan and he is in and out of prison all the time, the name just makes me think of him.

LoveFalafel · 12/11/2009 17:02

I would also choose Noah.

muggglewump · 12/11/2009 17:11

Tristan. It's my favourite boys name and DD would have been called it if she'd been a boy.

JesusChristOtterStar · 12/11/2009 17:12

Tristan definitely
Noah ten a penny

Jamieandhismagictorch · 12/11/2009 17:43

Noah.

It is stronger-sounding. Tristan is a bit fey (sorry)

hellokitty123 · 12/11/2009 18:00

Tristan is lovely - classic, strong and masculine! One of my favourite names!

Noah is ok, but a bit 'soft' imo.

turtle23 · 12/11/2009 18:14

D2 is due in 10 days and he will be Tristan. Love it.

audley · 12/11/2009 18:46

Tristan is great, even though I knew an irritating one at school I still like the name! Noah's are everywhere - Moses is good though

autumnsun · 12/11/2009 18:59

Noah is lovely.

Have you thought about Aaron? (Don't know why but seems a similar sort of name to Noah to me)

mummydarlingsausage · 12/11/2009 20:26

Love Tristan

JANEITEisntErudite · 12/11/2009 20:28

tristan and Noah are both yummy. Aaron is not in the same league at all imvho. I think Tristan just pips Noah for me.

PiggyPenguin · 12/11/2009 20:34

Both are fab imho. You can't go wrong with either!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 12/11/2009 20:39

Tristan is one of my favourite names for a boy. Noah is nice too, and I do like biblical names, but there are just soooo many Noahs now.

difficultdecision · 12/11/2009 20:41

our DS2 due in January will be a Noah. Funnily enough when DS1 was born we thought it was too unusual - now DS2 is due we worried it was too common - then decided it, we like the name, we like the meaning - its Noah.

weaselm4 · 12/11/2009 20:43

I've got a Noah and he's the only one I know . Think it depends where you are in the country. Do know a Tristan too and think that's a lovely name as well. Good choices, both!

dizzydixies · 12/11/2009 22:01

Noah everytime

birdofthenorth · 13/11/2009 08:45

Both lovely. Prefer Noah. Tris is a nice nickname though.

StrawberriesandCherries · 13/11/2009 08:52

A vote for Noah here!

tstar · 13/11/2009 09:03

NOAH Noah, I would choose Noah

gagamama · 13/11/2009 09:08

Noah is really popular, but Tristan is a good strong and unusual name. Also really like Christian and Sebastian for something similar.

MamaLazarou · 13/11/2009 09:23

Tristan, definitely. It's stronger-sounding and less common.

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2009 09:26

I have a Tristan and didn't expect it to be so popular - got a slating on MN a couple of years ago.
Like both though, and don't think either are common.

Phoenix · 13/11/2009 09:28

I've got a Noah and i only know one other. I love it, love it, love it

Not keen on Tristan though sorry.
