i have only 9 weeks left and have still not decided on a name. i really like harrison james, but then i decided i like jameson but cant think of a middle name to go with it. my uncle is called james and that is the nearest i can get to naming the baby after my nana which i would have done if i were having a girl. i want a trendy name that isnt too common but not a weird one thats just silly. im worried that my baby will have to be called baby for weeks until i have made my mind up. any suggestions for first names and middle names xxx

Hi, I think Harrison will be known as Harry in no time. I like Harry, but I know you're looking for a more unusual name.
Jameson is more unusual. I've heard of lots of Harrisons but haven't heard of Jameson before. Do you really want a middle name? I'm not sure Jameson needs one. Hope this helps.

MrsVik · 01/11/2009 18:43

Jameson Harry?

My suggestions:

Elliot James
Stefan James

Erm - that's all, sorry! Not feeling as creative as I thought I was...

mummyloveslucy · 01/11/2009 18:46

I also like Finley James or Xavier James.

James is a good middle name, it goes with a lot.

mummyloveslucy · 01/11/2009 18:47

Oh yes, Elliot is lovely too.

MrsVik · 01/11/2009 18:52

mummyloveslucy we must have quite similar tastes - my DD due in January will be a Lucia (nn Lucy) !!!

Really like Finley.

A name I heard recently is Maxim - still not sure what I think of it, but I think it's growing on me.

jlo1234 · 01/11/2009 18:54

yeaa i like elliot but for some strange reason i prefer it for a girl! jameson would give the option of a few nicknames when he gets older aswel like jay or jamie which i like. my brother is called connor but not sure that jameson connor goes. i would like him to have a middle name, maybe jameson max? i dont know. jameson harry is nice aswel its typical that i can think of loads of girls names, bet it would be the other way around if i wasnt having a girl lol x

Elliot is my virtual baby boys name

I like quite traditional strong boys names

Nathan
Thomas
Harrison is nice
Lennox
Matthew
Lewis
Finlay
Dylan
Leon
Aiden
Logan

MrsVik · 01/11/2009 18:57

I think Jameson Connor goes very well, actually!

Good luck deciding

jlo1234 · 01/11/2009 19:04

I love Harrison, my friend called her DS this and 18 months later he is still Harrison not Harry. Her DS1 is Jack and I now think she wished she'd went for Jackson which I also love!

Jackson James? too JJ?

FWIW though I LOVE Jameson. My brother is Matthew James so how about Jameson Matthew?

I've just realised I'm loving a lot of boys names which is typical as it's girls names I need

jlo1234 · 01/11/2009 19:59

lola - i love Ruby for a girl, i could think of millions of girls names! its so annoying haha xxx

Jameson is a whiskey, surely? How about Jago, comes from Diego, which means James; it's a Cornish pronunciation. Or Seamus? Hamish? What was your nana's name -- is there a masculine equivalent?

jlo1234 · 01/11/2009 22:24

my nanas name was audrey so i dont think there is a male equivelant. i have heard that jameson is a whiskey but thats not what i was naming him after i just like the name x

I thought you could maybe go for meaning? Audrey means "noble stregth".

Boys names which also mean this are

Abelhard
Adalhard
Alard
Audey
Autry
and Brian (???)

You could always go for Abel?

Have a wee look here for meanings and it might help you come up with something

if you use jameson people will think you named him after the whiskey. says the woman who verrrry nearly named her second born after a cocktail

TheDevilEatsBabies · 02/11/2009 11:28

what was your nana's name?
is there a boys' version you can use?

TheDevilEatsBabies · 02/11/2009 11:28

sorry, missed that!

audrey.

how about Aubrey?

CuppaTeaJanice · 02/11/2009 14:40

Alard is a pretty cool name. Unusual too, I've never met one.

What was your nana's maiden name, or her middle name? Are there any male versions of those you could use.

CuppaTeaJanice · 02/11/2009 14:42

Why don't you post your list of girls names that you like, so we can think of some boys names that might be suitable too!!

jlo1234 · 02/11/2009 15:16

hmm im not sure what her middle name was il find out though. and all the girls names i like are really girly like ruby and scarlett, i liked taylor for a girl but gone off it now, i know u can have it for a boy but my friend wants to call her baby taylor xxx

jlo1234 · 02/11/2009 16:23

cremeeggs · 02/11/2009 16:28

Tom, Max and Louis all go with Jameson as middle names

jlo1234 · 02/11/2009 16:30

jameson max, i like that. would anybody else think that i was naming him after the whiskey though if u heard it? i didnt even know there was a whiskey called jameson until someone mentioned it x

mathanxiety · 02/11/2009 17:23

I have to say whiskey was the first thing I thought of. Auden sounds a bit like Audrey. Was the last name of some author perhaps? I know I've heard it somewhere.
