Saskia/Sabrina

Baby due this week

Not sure what it is

Girls names we like are Saskia or Sabrina

Boys Milo, Xavier, Felix, Hugo, Casper maybe Henry but called Hal

Any other suggestions?

Don't want something very popular - Olivia, Imogen, Amelia, Isabel... etc altho like all these names, and not really a fan of old lady names or flowers.

Like classical names but not with negative connotations such as Jocasta, Pandora, Ophelia.

Just to warn you - you don't want 'very popular' names but in my neighbourhood there are many children called Milo, Felix, and Hugo. And I know of two Saskias aged 5 and 7. Might be more popular than you'd imagine.

bigstripeytiger · 31/10/2009 15:29

I like Saskia. When I hear Sabrina I think of the 80's pop star

I think that your boys names are all pretty popular at the moment.

needanamefast · 31/10/2009 15:32

It is sooooooo difficult isn't it. Am now days overdue with dc2 and still no name.

My fave names, but I can't use are Elia, Romilly, Martha and India.

Boys otto, benedict, rufus, solomon. i think we will go more traditional though if its a boy.

dizzydixies · 31/10/2009 15:47

what about Tabitha or Sukey or Anouk?

Saskia popular here too

MaggieOicheSamhain · 31/10/2009 16:37

Saskia.
Not sure why Sabrina isn't nice. Sabine? Sabine is nicer.

I love Hugo, Felix or Casper. Milo - like it. Xavier - ok. Henry - BIG no.

MaggieOicheSamhain · 31/10/2009 16:38

Stokey, do you like Isolde or Ismene or Penelope//??

boodleboot · 31/10/2009 19:16

I LOOOOOOOVE Pandora. Panda for short.....forget the negative conotations

DrSkidaddle · 31/10/2009 21:23

Much prefer Saskia to Sabrina too - like bigstripeytiger, Sabrina makes me think of that singer emerging from a pool in a bikini singing, boys boys boys I'm looking for a good time'

Of your boys names i like Milo best but that may be because I have one (I also now a couple of others but it's not properly popular like Jack or Oliver)

TheFallenMadonna · 31/10/2009 21:32

I like Saskia a lot.

Saskia, although I don't love it.

I like you boys' names. I'm liking Caspar a lot at the moment and Milo makes my heart skip.

luckyblackcat · 03/11/2009 00:34

I have a Saskia - she is 10.

SJP has just pinched Tabitha (to whoever suggested it) which is what we would have called DC#2 if girl - was a DS tho'.

DD sulked for a week and would only answer to Tabitha when she discovered we would have used it for DS, she much prefered it to Saskia.

birdofthenorth · 03/11/2009 09:30

There was a kids TV show for a whilre called Sabrina the Teenage Witch... on that basis I think I'd opt for Saskia! Pretty but becoming more popular (in the South... less up here!). Good luck with the birth x

Stokey · 03/11/2009 09:53

Thanks for comments - so hard to find something that is not of the moment.

Needanamefast - love you choices - India was on my list too but dh vetoed, and think it is a bit popular. Was also thinking Rufus - but is it a name for a red head?

Wasn't it Sinita who sang "boys, boys, boys"?

Anyway don't think my 2009 baby will be much affected by 80's pop star... I think of teenage witch associations too, although actually Sabrina was the Roman name for the river Severn.

Sabine - i just think of the painting -rape of the Sabine women- which puts me off

Isolde/Ismene maybe bit too obscure & Penelope's just end up as Penny which am not a fan of.

God it is difficult to gte balance right - Other one i like is Amber (& it's autumn so right colour) but guess it's very 80s

don't like Saskia as know a horrible one but i know the most adorable Sabrina, they call her Sabs for short {she is one of a triplet actually...}

Buntytea · 22/11/2009 14:53

Like Amber and don't think it's too 80s

Ishbel?

Sasha?

diddl · 22/11/2009 15:48

From your list, like Saskia & Milo.

bigstripeytiger · 22/11/2009 15:56

Sabrina from the eighties.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/11/2009 17:46

Saskia prettier than Sabrina.

Or how about Serena?

Like Hugo from your boys list. Only know one other.

Firawla · 22/11/2009 18:59

both saskia and sabrina are nice i think, but how about sabria its rarer than sabrina and imo prettier

malung · 22/11/2009 19:56

Sabrina is a gorgeous name.
Saskia is great too. Love Xavier and Casper.. Let us know how you are, what you had and what name you decided on. Good Luck.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 22/11/2009 22:06

If you live in Stokey, your boys names will be fairly popular.

What about Serena instead of Saskia/Sabrina ?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 22/11/2009 22:07

I do like your names, except Casper BTW

Jujubean77 · 22/11/2009 22:09

Sabrina is a beautiful name - no one will remember the singer in a while...
