How's it any different from picking one from a book? Or getting a suggestion from any other route (bar family, obv).

Well, people can suggest other names in the same style, or make you see a name in a new light. Some people have a better sixth sense for what's about to become explosively popular.

I think more people should consult a names board before naming their children!!

Hey, I have a face . I prefer to keep it covered with a paper bag, though.

Agree with Maggie about the advantages running a name past a (mostly) well-meaning self-appointed committee. It's just different from older random ways of coming up with a name, not necessarily worse, and it's a lot faster than going through books or to the cinema for those who have put it off for too long.
