Was just reading the news and came across the name Melody (Obama's domestic policy advisor is called Melody).

Is it ridiculous/poncy? I sort of love it....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If you love it, use it...I don't really go for it personally but then I know one in her 30s and wouldn't describe her as 'melodic'

There is that. If the poor child had a voice like a foghorn, the irony would be rather cruel.

DP has just pointed out that it sounds like someone saying "Melanie" with a bad cold, which has rather taken the shine off it for me!

Its okay, but I think Elodie, which has the same sounds is nicer.

Cortina · 28/10/2009 13:12

Isn't it the name of a mermaid in 'Ariel' or something? This puts me off. As PP says makes me think of Elodie which is better and more of a 'name' IMO.

Dislike 'Mel' names, so wouldn't use personally.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 28/10/2009 15:32

I quite like it, but also prefer Elodie

MaggieBruja · 28/10/2009 20:30

It's a bit too saccharine or something. I don't dislike it exactly.

Prefer Melanie tbh.
