Lily and Billy

I am pregnant with DC2 and we're struggling with boys names. I really like Harry but DH won't consider it because our surname also starts with Ha.

Dd1 is called Lily (full name Elizabeth, but never used!) We like William, but I know my dad would definitely call him Billy. Is Billy and Lily just too silly? Do I even need to ask?

Yes it's too silly.

Zil131 · 27/10/2009 14:20

Yes - silly
Could he be a Will?

Do you have anything against Henry? (Harry is a pet form of Henry.) Or Liam? (Irish for William) The Lily and Billy thing would be too funny to bear. And Bill/Will and Lil would be unavoidably too, I think.

I like William.

Why would your dad not respect your wishes to not call him Billy?

Liloosmum · 27/10/2009 15:50

My Dad would call him Billy because of a really good footballer who used to play for my dad's team called Billy and my married surname. I can hear him singing it already!!

DH doesn't like Henry either, he likes Ben and I don't.

Lilly and Billy sounds quite cute x

MIL has cats called Lily, Billy and Milly. So I would say no, sorry!

Fleecy · 27/10/2009 16:22

As in no, don't do it

PumpkinJollster · 27/10/2009 16:48

is it Billy Bonds by any chance?

My DS is Billy - William Arthur - named after William Arthur (Billy) Bonds....

(Now you're going to say Billy Bremner aren't you...??!!)

I would love Eliza (nn Betsy) for a DD... but have worried Billy and Betsy probably is too much also....

BUT ultimately it's your choice - why not Lily and Will/Billy? I think it's ok !
