Lucinda or Amelia?

I need to register my baby girl and her father only likes the names Lucy or Florence. I'm not sure about either though i may have Florence as a second middle name after my grandmother. What do people think of these names: Lucinda Daisy Florence, Amelia Lucy Florence, Annabel Lucy Florence, Lucinda Charlotte Florence...? (any other suggestions?) Is Lucinda OTT and is 3 names too much? Are there loads of Amelias and Annabels?

I like Amelia best out of your shortlist, although it is very popular here.

hulabula · 23/10/2009 16:43

Lucinda is beautiful! And much less common/popular than Amelia/Amelie/Emily of which there are SO many.

I particularly like Lucinda Charlotte!

annasmami · 23/10/2009 16:46

I love Lucinda! It sounds beautiful, has nice nicknames (Lucy etc.) and has a lovely meaning (bringer of light).

Amelia is ok but rather dull/common in comparison.

I also love Annabel (but I am biased as I have one ).

mopsyflopsy · 23/10/2009 16:50

Definately Lucinda - beautiful, classic name!

Also like Florence and Charlotte from your suggestions.

Am less keen on Amelia as it is indeed very popular.

goryminx · 23/10/2009 16:52

I like Florence - very pretty and a lot less common popular that Amelia which is very pretty.

I also like Lucinda.

sophiesmummie · 23/10/2009 16:55

All nice names, but I particularly like Lucinda and Charlotte.

Why would Lucinda be 'OTT'? It has 3 syllables like Amelia or Annabel, so don't see much difference there .

EightiesChick · 23/10/2009 16:58

Love both. Amelia has been popular last few years. Lucy is pretty timeless. Maybe use both and have Lucinda Amelia? (though not hyphenated, that really would be OTT).

EightiesChick · 23/10/2009 16:59

On the 3 names, don't think it is too much. We did this for our DS. Not like they will be used all the time!

Of your combinations, all OK except the first one, as the repeated 'da-da' of 'Lucinda Daisy...' doesn't sound nice to me.

Salonly · 23/10/2009 17:05

Amelia Lucy Florence for me

DougalDoneGood · 23/10/2009 17:06

I love all those names!

I think Annabel, Lucinda and Florence are my faves though. I don't think three names is too much - but then 2 of my DC's have three names each

MaggieBruja · 23/10/2009 18:31

Nice names all of them some much more popular than others.

Lucy - nice, and could be a nn for Lucinda. I also like LIndy and Lucia. All of these could be nns so it's versatile.

Florence - quite harsh, much prefer Flora for short, but as it was your grandma's name, you probably want to use Florence itself. There aren't too many out there I don't think, it's too strong to become really popular I think.

Daisy - I like this, I also like Posy.

Amelia - pretty, there are a fair few of them though.

Annabel - lovely, makes a nice change to hear this instead of Isabel. Annabel could be a sister to an Amelia or a Florence. I know an Annabel, but it's definitely rarer than Amelia.

Charlotte - not crazy about Charlotte but I love the nn Lottie.

I prefer Beatrice to Florence, and in the same style as all of your beautiful elegant names I like Juliet, Louisa, Phoebe and Claudia.

yama · 23/10/2009 18:49

Definitely Lucinda with Lucy as nn.

imaginestrictlytwirlynamehere · 23/10/2009 18:52

Lucinda is lovely. Lucinda Charlotte Florence is really nice.

lovemybabyboy · 23/10/2009 23:35

I LOVE Amelia... so I would choose Amelia Lucy Florence

simplesusan · 25/10/2009 01:03

I like Annabel best, then lucinda and finally Amelia, but only because Amelia is quite common.
Would only use Florence as a middle name myself.

LackingNicknameInspiration · 25/10/2009 01:10

I like Lucinda, but then it's DD's name, so am biased . She does get called Lucy all the time though as Lucinda felt quite a grown up name for her (she's just turned 2) but she should grow into it - have only met 1 other Lucinda in all that time too.

Part of the reason we went for that is that there's only one syllable in our surname, so it was nice to have a longer first name - from your choice, I really like Lucinda Charlotte Florence, if it sounds good with surname/initials ok, I'd go for it.

mathanxiety · 25/10/2009 01:56

Lucinda Florence Annabel is a nice combo, imo.

tummytickler · 25/10/2009 11:36

I love Lucinda - never really been an Amelia fan and there aare sooo many of them around.
Lucinda Daisy Florence is adorable!

MRSwereWOOLFhasabroomofherown · 25/10/2009 13:37

I like Annabel best. Amelia is nice, very popular.
Lucinda is also pretty, but I just see Linda somehow. I prefer Lucy.

TombliBOOOOOObs · 25/10/2009 13:42

I really like Lucinda Charlotte.

bednobs · 01/06/2010 19:28

Annabel Florence Lucinda

Hedwig3 · 01/06/2010 20:09

Amelia Lucy Florence

Lucinda sounds horsey to my ears.

Doozie · 02/06/2010 12:16

Lucinda is gorgeous! Lucinda Florence Amelia

I know it is a perfectly normal name, but I haven't liked Amelia since I saw this. And apologies to all of those who have very reasonably called their child Amelia.
