Tabitha and potential nicknames

Tabitha has been in my top five for a few years now, and now that Octavia and Freya are a little out of favour with me right now, Tabitha has made its way to the top again.

My problem with Tabitha is the lack of appealing nicknames. Whilst I'm not sure it really needs a nickname, it's nice to have a few in mind, just in case

I don't like Tabby or Abi at all, and was thinking of the following ones. Can you add any more? I guess I like the more 'hipsterish' names, if I had to pick a category.

Bea - (pr. 'bay') my dear long-departed nana's nickname.

Bibi - really not sure about this one, but cute for a baby nickname.

How about 'this kid is nearly 7 years old?'

My tabitha gets called T by her friends.

We call her Bob because that's what she was called when I was pregnant. Sometimes Tabbybobbob. Not exactly a nickname!

People she doesn't like get to call her Tabitha. 🤣

She gets lots of compliments on her name BTW so I think it's a good choice. 🤣

No they won't Colditz! Mine has never been shortened to Tabby.

Not yet. Nobody ever shortened my name until I started work. Nowadays, only people who knew the young me use the full version.

You can insist on the full version, and I know people who insist on David not Dave or Patricia not Trisha, but not everyone does as they're told.

Lol. You've dragged me back to MN after many many years away by quoting me!
Given that I'm nearly 50, the 'not yet' has amused me. If I've not been nicknamed Tabby for 50 years, when exactly do you think it's going to start?!

DuchessOfSausage · 25/02/2023 13:47

Oops, zombie thread.

You must be a special case, @CantSleepWontSleep . Sorry for disturbing you.
I never wanted my name to be shortened but it gets shortened, and I got used to it. It doesn't stop people trying to lengthen the shortened version to something else. Same goes for friends with longish names.

I like Tabitha but if I knew her brother was Felix, I might think you had a bit of a thing for cats…
