...to go with Cecily (surname Innes so no P names) Is six letters asking too much? I did have Violet but DH refusing to commit and I want to give the bloody baby a name [pregnancy hormone alert]

Sorry Buckets beat me on Amandine. Also I LOVE Pamela - goes with the 40s/50s Cecily and as a mn wouldn't get shortened to Pam. Can't you have a 'P' name???

derrr just realised that dd2 has a 3-syllable name. but you can't have it! I love love love it. It is unusual - (I've never met another - though have met similar) but unpretentious and normal sounding (with no silly spelling). The reason it manages to be all those things is because it's like 2 names but hyphenated. They are a bit boring apart but together are, imho, delightful. 2 syllables, hypen, one syllable. I'm not telling you more...but you get the idea and no doubt can think of examples.

See now I'm intrigued hatwoman!!!

Currently thinking Violet or Verity or Emmeline or Annabelle......

Yorky · 16/10/2009 10:13

Sorry hatwoman, but your description of your daughter's name just makes me think of Sarah-Jane from horrible Higgledy house! Although I did once babysit for a Sammy-Jo, who was really Samantha-Jo

Rolf · 16/10/2009 10:43

Hi Puree. I love love love Cecily's name. My DD1 is Harriet.
How about:

Verity
Jemima
Emmeline
Beatrice
Louisa
Caroline
Miranda
Imogen
Rosamund

Rolf · 16/10/2009 10:44

Sorry, didn't see that you already liked Verity and Emmeline.

hatwoman · 16/10/2009 11:15

both my sils have names like dd. although they don;t have the hyphen. they have a capital letter in the middle of their name and no gap. dd started life out like this but we got so sick of people not getting it we added in a hyphen. which I actually prefer anyway.
