We're TATTC (thinking about TTC!) so this is not urgent! DH has his heart set on a name for a girl, but I'm not 100% sure.
I'm liking Constance at the moment. What do you think?

I think Constance is a beautiful name. I know a Constance, but she's known as Connie.

I think it's Irish, isn't it?

saadia · 08/10/2009 11:15

I like it

Tambajam · 08/10/2009 11:16

Like it.

seeker · 08/10/2009 11:18

I love it.

I have to warn you though, that I wanted it for dd but couldn't because part of dd's last name is a potentially embarrassing name starting Con..... And she says that the ONLY think she likes about her last name is that it stopped me calling her Constance!

I don't think it's specifically Irish, although all the 'virtue" names used to be popular with Roman Catholics.

DD1's best friend at nursery in Brussels was a French Constance.

pofacedandproud · 08/10/2009 11:24

Lovely. We liked it but we weren't so keen on Connie.

Sunshinemummified · 08/10/2009 11:35

The only Constance (Connie) I know got called Miss Lingus by all her male friends. She was German so didn't really get it !

seeker · 08/10/2009 11:41

Aer Lingus - maybe that's where the irish connection comes in!!!!

SquirrelTrap · 08/10/2009 11:49

One thinks precocious

castille · 08/10/2009 11:50

I love it.

DH doesn't, so we couldn't use it

rocketupbum · 08/10/2009 13:20

Doodleydoo · 08/10/2009 13:53

sweet name, know one myself and adorable little girl.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 08/10/2009 13:58

I bloody love this name but dh wouldnever entertain it. It was also my grandmothers name.

I also love the name Patience.

TeamEdwardTango · 08/10/2009 14:14

What is it with these DH's not appreciating a good name?

I quite like Cornelia too. It's a family name.

Patience is lovely, but I'd have to be militant that she was always Patience and never Pat!

Constance is a beautiful name. Serene, feminine, gracious, strong and independent.

TeamEdwardTango · 08/10/2009 22:03

Maggie is DH's choice

I have a very beautiful dgd named Constance Violet. She is usually Connie which imho is a beautiful name.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 08/10/2009 23:02

I haven't heard it for ages until now on this thread. I really like it.

Classic, unusual (these days) and feminine without being girlie.

TeamEdwardTango · 08/10/2009 23:04

Ok, so now I just need to conceive twin girls so I can use Maggie and Constance.

Any tips?!

Connie Fisher is the most recent one I've heard of.

lovemybabyboy · 10/10/2009 00:23

I like it, Connie is lovely for a little girl but so is Maggie.
