Changing name by deedpoll- does anyone know how to do it?

I would like to add a second middle name to my daughter's name to honour a relative who has recently passed away. As she is over 1 year old, I understand that this would have to be done by deedpoll. Can anyone help with the process? Do you know how much it costs?
Thanks a lot!

Go to a solicitor who will do it for you. Your DD's father will have to give permission too.

Costs vary but could be around £50 plus VAT. OR it might be free and done on LEgal Help (legal aid) - find a sol that does legal help and see if you're eligible

We used the Uk deedpoll service. No probs.

We did lots of reading around first and contacted a magistrate friend who validated the deedpoll for us.

We've used it since as proof of ID with no probs.

They've got a website, would post a link but not sure if that's against forum rules, but just google it.

However, since it is a middle name you're adding rather than a first/last name you're changing, it's not actually necessary to change it officially, you can just begin to use it. I understand why you'd want it recognised offically though.
