Hi ladies

After finding out yesterday that we're having a baby girl, we've now narrowed down our list of girls names and have decided on Kayla, with Jade as a middle name.

What do you think of this?

Please be gentle with me I'm a newbie here

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not for me, sorry.

Good luck with your pregnancy

MrsBadger · 06/10/2009 09:57

Not for me either

Michaela is better by a mile and is where all the Kaylee / Kayla type names are derived from.

princessmel · 06/10/2009 09:58

Sorry I'm not keen on either.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 06/10/2009 10:27

Sorry, I don't like it either.

What about Carla ?

JodieO · 06/10/2009 10:29

I quite like it, don't like Carla though.

Rafi · 06/10/2009 10:31

I like Michaela too, & then Kayla works nicely as a short form.

1stTimeMama · 06/10/2009 10:32

I know a Kayla and she's a cutie!

madrush · 06/10/2009 10:45

It's a bit American sounding for my taste, but I know a lovely Kayla and it works for her

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 06/10/2009 10:47

Mmmm not keen really sorry

I think Kayla sounds a bit too American.

What about Kyla - it's Gaelic and means lovely. I like this a lot.

If you love Kayla i'd think about putting Michaela Jade on the birth certificate, then she would have a more serious sounding name to go for if she wanted to when older with Kayla as a nickname.

Sourdough · 06/10/2009 12:23

Sorry, I'm in the 'against' camp too. It's the baby's name in 'The Giggler Treatment' by Roddy Doyle and I always thought it didn't sound nice. Not too sure about the Jade bit either...

mopsyflopsy · 06/10/2009 12:53

I know a lovely 3 year old Kayla. I think her full name is Mikayla.

suwoo · 06/10/2009 12:58

Mikayla is worse IMO.

MrsBadger · 06/10/2009 13:04

Mikayla much worse

Squishabelle · 06/10/2009 13:13

Sorry not keen on Kayla at all - sounds made-up.

crazycat34 · 08/10/2009 16:59

Kayla sounds like the noise a pleghmy old smoker makes when clearing his throat.

Kayla Jade has so many negative connotations that I wouldn't know where to start.

Please don't do it!!

annamama · 08/10/2009 17:38

I like Kayla, DD's cousin is called that and she lives in... you guessed it, America. If you like it go for it, it's not like it's superweird or anything.

mathanxiety · 08/10/2009 17:54

Another no. It's a really fluffy name imo.
