I have thought of a boy's name so perfect that I am seriously considering trying for #3 just so I can use it.

Poledra · 01/10/2009 11:39

Always means Anne of Green Gables' husband to me - though he was a pretty cool bloke

BarbieLovesKen · 01/10/2009 11:53

oh no!!

BarbieLovesKen · 01/10/2009 11:55

I did love Gilbert in Anne of Green Gables' though - NOT the name at all but he was a pretty cool bloke. She called him Gil though and that was sweet. NO. still dont like it at all.

Noooooooooo

BalloonSlayer · 01/10/2009 13:02

Isn't it a guinea-pig's name?

Or this sexy beast.

But you could abbreviate to Bertie which I love.

BitOfFun · 01/10/2009 13:05

Ah, sweet Gilbert Blythe...

CuppaTeaJanice · 01/10/2009 13:07

Gilbert Grape?

As long as he's not overweight with rosy cheeks, I suppose!!

MaMight · 01/10/2009 13:07

Hypothetical Gilbert would be a little brother to Wilfred.

Perfect.

I went to school with some one called Gilbert. Actually it was his surname, but everyone called him Gilbert.

In infant school he had sweaty hands. He threw up on the carpet big time when we were having a story, which made me feel really sick.

In high school he was sweaty and nervous and shy.

Maybe you could get a pet, MaMight?

CuppaTeaJanice · 01/10/2009 13:07

At least he'd have his name already on his Rugby kit!!!

LynetteScavo · 01/10/2009 13:24

Yeah, and every body knew which rugby ball was his.

LynetteScavo · 01/10/2009 13:25

My ds has it as his middle name, I love it My mum's dad was Gilbert, he was a Dr and did lots of research into cancer but died in a plane crash when she was a young teenager. I would have loved to have known him.

Allets · 01/10/2009 13:34

rachel234 · 01/10/2009 15:18

Really don't like it, I'm afraid. And thinking about it, would it be pronounced Jill-bert or Gill-bert?

bess23 · 01/10/2009 15:26
