I can't decide if I like this. It is from the list dh made.

What do you think?

prefer Raphael (personally)

nigglewiggle · 30/09/2009 15:07

Are you a well-heeled, 4x4 driving, yummy mummy?

poisoniris · 30/09/2009 15:10

Is that a must

I really hate this name (sorry!) It sounds...ruffley. Fussy.

Cortina · 30/09/2009 15:15

To me it sounds made up or copied from a celeb with a son with this name. Sorry to Raffertys everywhere!

Thing is I'd never heard it used before Jude Law used it for his son. So to my mind it's like being called Brooklyn.

I think it's an Irish (?) valid name in its own right but originally a surname?

Raphael is classier and more classic to my mind.

HeadFairy · 30/09/2009 15:15

A bit too Primrose Hill for me I'm afraid. Shame because it's actually quite a nice name I think. However, I'm sure associations with over paid non celebs in North London will fade pretty soon if your dh really likes it.

MamaLazarou · 30/09/2009 18:27

It's truly awful. One of the worse trendy names doing the rounds at the moment. I can't think of anything good about it.

bibbitybobbityhat · 30/09/2009 18:28

That is a very good name for a hamster.

herjazz · 30/09/2009 18:29

It puts me in mind of someone scratching their genitals

Kirsty86 · 30/09/2009 23:36

I like it, but I wouldn't dare use it.

dizzydixies · 01/10/2009 19:35

its my MIL's maiden name and was a consideration of ours, we only had girls but it was on a list

pointydoug · 01/10/2009 19:37

cheesoid

Dumbledoresgirl · 01/10/2009 19:39

I love it. I want dh to have his tubes untied so we can have another baby and name it this. (Dh wouldn't agree though, to any of it!)

JeMenFous · 01/10/2009 19:40

Jude Law and Sadie frost spring to my mind

mathanxiety · 01/10/2009 19:40

Rafferty is very Dublin 4 or 6. It's an Irish surname (most Irish surnames were originally given names, very circular) I knew a Raftery once. But Rafferty always reminds me of riff raff, sorry.

Dumbledoresgirl · 01/10/2009 19:44

Not sure why, but it reminds me of rakish which I know should be a negative connotation but in my mind is not. I feel any Rafferty would be fabulously good looking and easy in his own body.
