Sally

I would call my next DD this in a shot, what a pretty, classy name.

was on our shortlist for DD - pretty but not frilly

I love Sally, but my married name now means any daughter I named Sally would have the same name as a girl I went to school with.

I had an Auntie Susie, and all her sisters called her Sal, so I've always thought it was short for Susan. Could be wrong though.

dog's name.

I think its lovely-my granny was Sally short for Sarah and her sister was Sadie short for Sarah one was Sarah Jane and one was Sarah Rose yet the names used were Sally and Sadie

MamaG · 29/09/2009 22:59

blossomx · 29/09/2009 23:08

I love the name Sally. I'm a Sarah and always wanted to be called Sally, but the only person who would call me this was my Mum so it didn't catch on.

All the Sally's I've ever known have been lovely.

greenday · 30/09/2009 04:59

Doesn't do it for me too sorry. Wrong images that spring to mind.
Susie, Sarah, Sadie and all the others names on this thread are fine .. but Sally .. just nope.

LissyGlitter · 30/09/2009 05:01

Is it even a real name? I dunno, I would be very reluctant to give a child a nickname as a full name. Give them a name that can be shortened by all means, but at least give them the choice of having a formal name too...

shakeyshakey · 30/09/2009 14:31

Not a real name!!!?? What rot! I think it's been a long time since Sally was thought of as a nickname. It's short for Sarah and I hardly think that people would think Sarah much more formal than Sally.

Can you guess what my real name is.....?

I love my name and if I had a girl and my name was different, I would choose Sally!

jkklpu · 30/09/2009 22:13

love it - my Mum and aunt as well as daughter of parents' best friend (after my Mum)

MamaLazarou · 01/10/2009 03:35

Ahh, my lovely wee cousin is called Sally. It's very sweet and suits her. It took us all a while to get used to it, though - to begin with it seemed stuffy and old-ladyish.

Sallys are always nice people, in my experience.
