short list down to these three... for the longest time any DS was going to be Silas, but just not sure if it would be seen as a bit poncey.... middle name Brady for family reasons, and a loooong surname!

what do you think? any other suggestions to throw in?

Silas is a short name & unlikely to be shortened, I would think.

But if called Si as a teenager by friends, would that be a disaster?

People on here seem so hung up by "shortenings".

If you don´t want to shorten-don´t!

Ooh I love Silas!! Also love Joseph but very popular, so depends if you mind that?

Sorry, am not keen on Fletcher.

If you like Silas do you like Elias? Often abbreviated to Eli (pronounced EE-LIE) Don't know if it washes in Scotland though but quite popular in the States/Australia I think and super-cool!!

Silas reminds me of the crazy monk in the Da Vinci Code, so I wouldn't choose it because he gave me the creeps.
Fletcher reminds me of Ronnie Barker (aka Fletch) in the retro tv series 'Porridge' and that was a cool programme.
Jospeh is v popular and altho I like it I wouldn;t go with it for that reason.

Not Fletcher. Fletcher the Lecher

Gateau · 30/09/2009 14:50

Blimey, I look really ancient on here. Nobody esle has mentioned the tv series 'Porridge' with Fletcher in it - and the late, gorgeous Richard Beckinsale.

Silas

Silas or Joseph. Prefer Joseph.

OrmIrian · 30/09/2009 14:52

Gateau - that was my first thought about Fletcher. Not jsut you who is ancient.

I like Joseph. Fletcher reminds me of Ronnie Barker in Porridge and Silas reminds me of soilage, sorry.
