What do you think of this?

Would be called Maximillian (sp)?

But known as Maxim.

I know one - he was named Maxim but universally known as Max. Fine imo

CuppaTeaJanice · 28/09/2009 16:49

There was a really sexy French boy on our school exchange programme called Maxim, so it's a big thumbs up from me!!!

Stick at Maxim though, Maximillian is just ridiculous - even you aren't sure how to spell it!

Cortina · 28/09/2009 16:52

It's a shortening though. Thinking of Max/Maxim de Winter. (He was Maximillian).

Maximillian is better than Maxwell IMO. Anyone read Adrian Mole (Maxwell House)!

Don't like it but like Max.

mathanxiety · 29/09/2009 04:01

Maxim Gorky was just Maxim.

It's OK.... kind of..... all I can think of is the men's magazine of the same name full of nakey ladies and enormous breasts

that would put me off, a bit like calling your baby 'nuts'....

the name on its own is quite nice though, but if you want Maxim as the name I would recommend just using that on the birth certificate, or he will be called Maximillian or Max and never Maxim...

becky7000 · 30/09/2009 12:43

I have a Maximilian (on birth certificate) but he is known as Max so I think it is a great idea!

Gateau · 30/09/2009 14:34

ALways think of Laurence Olivier as Maxim in the film 'Rebecca'. Love that film, so that's no bad thing.
Quite nice; might get Max or Maxi though, if you're happy with those.

NigellaTufnel · 30/09/2009 22:26

How popular is Max at the moment?

GoppingOtter · 01/10/2009 22:32

/maxim lovely

soo Rebecca

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/10/2009 22:35

I have a friend with a Maximilian known as Maxim. Wouldn't be my choice, but it's ok. The important thing is that you and your dh like it.

pavlovalover · 02/10/2009 03:09

I have a friend with a son called Macsen. Similar sound maybe? I think its lovely.

skihorse · 02/10/2009 07:56

Tbh Maxim is a beautiful name, however to use it you'd have to be so blisteringly aristocratic that you wouldn't know one arse-end of a modem from another - therefore "I'm oot"!

katnkittens · 02/10/2009 11:50

What skihorse said.

I like Max a lot though, it's a strong manly sounding name

brockleybelle · 08/12/2009 15:33

My ds is Maxim. Love it. We call him Max most of the time though.

birdofthenorth · 08/12/2009 15:36

Love Max, not keen on Maxim, sorry. Does make me think of Maxim lads mag.

Prefer Maxwell, which I like a lot.

RnB · 08/12/2009 16:05

i like it. Very much. Another one for DP so say no to...

MamaLazarou · 08/12/2009 17:12

Is brilliant - the misunderstood hero from Rebecca

rafa · 09/12/2009 19:38

what about Maxence?

LynetteScavo · 09/12/2009 19:41

Maximillian and Max are both great.

Don't like Maxim, though.
