We've shortlisted our girls baby names but we're still a little unsure: Please let me know what you think would be a good middle name, for Tatiana.

(Possibly Guinevere,Genevieve or Beatrice) ...

(Boys name would be Edward Arthur - we think!)

Tatiana Beatrice = TB (or Tony Blair. Ugh).

Of those, I'd go for Guinevere.

mollymodge · 28/09/2009 12:05

:-)
thankyou!

oh - seeing it like that TB - Tuberculosis! I didn't think of the initials!

how long is your surname?

Tatiana Guinevere Fotherington-Thomas will make form-filling in later life very difficult

Tatiana Guinevere Jones sounds like you are tryin gto make up for something

I think in the interests of balance you need something shorter than any of your suggestions tbh - Tatiana is a mouthful to start with IMO and I would go for a single syllable.

mollymodge · 28/09/2009 12:18

My form filling was horrendous growing up! I have a double barrelled surname and I'm Anastasia Bonnie ... we already have a Tabitha Tallulah!

hmm ...

so they will be sisters called Tabitha and Tatiana?

Tabby and Tatty?

I am not on board here, sorry.

Beatrice is lovely though

choosyfloosy · 28/09/2009 12:31

I think Tatiana is lovely (though not only Tatty and Tabby sounding similar, but endless arguments over who opened the post addressed to Ms T Jones, mixups over credit files etc) but I do think a shorter second name would be nice with it.

Tatiana Mary is quite nice? Tatiana Belle? Tatiana Hope?

LynetteScavo · 28/09/2009 12:45

Oooh, we have the same tast in names!

DD's midddle name is Tatiana, and she would have been Edward if she were a boy.

I like Tabitha Genevieve best.

Be warned, though...my DSs call DD "TattyBanana"!

mopsyflopsy · 28/09/2009 12:50

Tatiana Genevieve sounds lovely, as does Tatiana Guinevere!

I think I prefer those to shorter middle names.

mollymodge · 28/09/2009 13:03

Thankyou all for your opinions

I know we can never control NN - mine's molly from Anastasia!!!!

My daughter's NN is either Tabs or Tula ... from Tabitha. (I would try for Teddy from Edward!)

Other possiblilities were: Violet? Scarlet? Winifred? Agatha? Camilla?

LynetteScavo · 28/09/2009 13:12

No, no, stick with Taiana, it's great!

LynetteScavo · 28/09/2009 13:12

Tatiana.

MrsBadger · 28/09/2009 13:13

tbh I think any of those would be better than Tatiana

you did ask...

llareggub · 28/09/2009 13:14

I had a friend called Tatiana when I was at nursery. I couldn't pronounce it so called her Titty-anna.

mollymodge · 28/09/2009 13:43

how cute!!!! (I used to be anasthetic!!)

OP posts:
bellissima · 28/09/2009 14:29

mrsbadger - Fotherington-Thomas is already trying to make up for something (Molesworth much better!).

As is Snotface-Smith and Clutterbuck-Brown.

Do you think that as the actual surnames are becoming rather less common (as in usual) then people will start ditching the little snobby add-ons?

Sorry - I digressed. not a huge fan of Tatiana but hey...its okay.

BiancaJackson · 28/09/2009 15:50

I'd go for something quite simple with a long frilly first name like Tatiana (which is lovely, btw, but deffo frilly ).

A one syllable name? Joy, Bea, Grace, Fern, Fleur, Ruth, Gwen, Hope, Faith

cityangel · 30/09/2009 13:31

What about Tatiana Eve?
