... it's "Kenya", actually pronounced "Keen-ya" but I think I prefer the more obvious pronounciation.

Okay I know the inspiration is slightly trashy but putting that aside, opinions on name please!

Even if it was a beautiful classic name like Florence I would go off it if I heard it on the Ricki Lake show!

mumsiebumsie · 18/09/2009 16:34

The Ricki Lake association is unfortunate I agree .

MaggieBeauLeo · 19/09/2009 18:03

There's no real reason why Kenya is weird and India isn't.

I wouldn'tuse either but ykwim.

colabottlefizzy · 20/09/2009 20:13

I know this is a bit random but the Queen pronounces it Keen ya.

janeite · 20/09/2009 20:17

The Queen pronounces it Keenya because it is the old colonial name for the country. Really not very PC don't you know!

chegirl · 20/09/2009 22:38

I have a beautiful, intelligent, wonderful neice called Kenya.

It suits her and she is not in the least bit trashy.

I bet her parents would never watch Ricki Lake

cheesesarnie · 20/09/2009 22:41

serinBrightside · 20/09/2009 23:03

Nowt wrong with Chad.

Chad Varah, founder of The Samaritans.

St Chad, the first Bishop of Mercia.

scottishmummy · 20/09/2009 23:41

i dont like any place names-fine for a map not a baby

edam · 20/09/2009 23:43

Entirely stray thought of no interest to anyone but... my mother used to go out with a guy called Chad, before meeting my father. Chad went on to become a Bishop, apparently. Clearly strong religious influence on anyone with the name!

FatFree · 21/09/2009 01:23

I got my daughters name from Ricki Lake, but too scared to tell you what it is now!

Rest assured it doesnt start with "La" with any other random word attached to it, lol

mumsiebumsie · 21/09/2009 10:28

FatFee go on be brave and tell us!

Chegirl thank you for the postive feedback. I'm not a Ricki Lake regular - made an exception due to the fact that I was feeling sorry for myself and too fatigued/sore to change the channel.

Glad some of you liked the title - didn't realise it'd evoke such strong opinions!
