Jesse for a boy in Scotland?

It's just about the only boy's name left that I love. But is it too cruel to use up here with all the "ye big jessie!!" connotations?

Or d'you reckon that's a put-down of the past now, and just not used any more??

Don't do it. It's too cruel. I still hear it used.

It's a lovely name but you might as well call him Sissy or Wimp.

alypaly · 15/09/2009 10:26

alypaly · 15/09/2009 10:27

curlyredhead · 15/09/2009 10:28

defo

shootfromthehip · 15/09/2009 10:30

Nope- unreasonably cruel. Who wants to be a big jessie/e?

HigherThanAWombat · 15/09/2009 10:30

Well would you be willing to name your child wimp? I suspect not and that's exactly what you'd be doing.

stubbyfingers · 15/09/2009 10:31

It's a shame as it is a lovely name. Maybe in other countries but Scotland is the last place you could do it.

ScarlettCrossbones · 15/09/2009 10:31

Sheesh. Well that's me stuck then ? baby will be nameless!

OP posts:
HigherThanAWombat · 15/09/2009 10:32

You'll just have to find something else I'm afraid. It really would be too cruel.

I'm sure you'll find something if you look through a baby name book.

HigherThanAWombat · 15/09/2009 10:40

Unless you move?

ScarlettCrossbones · 15/09/2009 10:44

Lol, that could be a plan if we don't come up with anything else! I just find boys' names either boring and common, or waaaay out there and pretentious ... no middle ground. Girls are soo much easier!

OP posts:
HigherThanAWombat · 15/09/2009 11:38

I find the opposite. I can think of a long list of boys' names that I love and just a few girl names.
