not lovely

theagedparent · 15/09/2009 10:00

Lovely.

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 15/09/2009 10:00

There was a couple in NZ who named their daughter 'tallulah does the hula from hawaii'
You could always go that route

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 15/09/2009 10:01

Neither. Just a bit too deliberately "unusual" when in fact, around here anyway, Jane or Sally would be a more unusual choice.

Pinkglow · 15/09/2009 10:10

nothing wrong with it, sounds nice shortened as well

Love it. Love Lulu as a nickname too. V. cool.

HigherThanAWombat · 15/09/2009 10:29

Me too Janitor. I love that film, but I don't like the name at all.

persephoneplum · 15/09/2009 10:50

I used to love it, but now I infinitely prefer Dahlia. Tallulah is sounding stale to my mind and I do like a bit of seriousness to a name now that I'm actually naming babies. I used to like all of that rash of insubstantial names - Lola, Lulu, Coco, Pixie, Tallulah - and for sure they have charm, I just wouldn't use them.

To see how I got from Tallulah to Dahlia, I initially thought Delilah was nicer than Tallulah, then Dahlia nicer than Delilah.

Gosh did that make any sense?

MamaLazarou · 15/09/2009 18:18

Stripper's name.

janeite · 15/09/2009 18:20

I don't like it, sorry. It will forever be associated with Bugsy Malone in my mind.

MadameCastafiore · 15/09/2009 18:22

Hooker name!

Ealingkate · 15/09/2009 18:31

How about Talitha - a friend's sister is called this - it means little girl in Hebrew I think.

chegirl · 15/09/2009 18:57

lovely.

Number one of my list for a girl at the moment.

I suppose I should be saving up to send her to lapdancing school now....

KAEKAE · 17/09/2009 13:45

This used to be one of my all time fav names, BUT then all the celebs starting using it so it's put me off. I still love it but just wouldn't have the guts to use it.

girlsyearapart · 17/09/2009 13:54

Love it. Would like to use it in future but already have a (insubstantial) Lola so would be a bit worried about it being shortened to Lulah and having Lola and Lulah..

How about Tahlia?

justbeenforapromenade · 20/09/2009 01:39

I used to love it, means running water in Choktaw Native American, but now a bit too popular for my liking, a bit WAG baby.

scottishmummy · 20/09/2009 01:43

i think bugsy malone

LyraSilvertongue · 20/09/2009 01:45

There's a Tallulah in Ds2's class and she's the most gorgeous little thing. So i would say it's a lovely name.

muggglewump · 20/09/2009 02:24

Awful
I'm not keen on it anyway and it comes across as if you were copying a sleb two years ago.

petitmaman · 20/09/2009 08:14

the people in NZ had the baby taken away from thrm by SS for a couple of hours just to change their name as it was constidered cruelty.

laura0007 · 20/09/2009 19:36

i love it! I knew a little girl in my charges class called this and she was nn 'Tally' I love love love it!!!

smother · 21/09/2009 13:44

I think the shine really goes off some names when they become too popular....I know 2 Tallulah's.... It's because it sounds as if you're trying (and failing) to be different. Other names, like Sophie or Emily, are not trying to be different and so they are not any less nice through being popular... if you know what I mean. What about Malaika? That's a lovely and underused name.

cheesesarnie · 21/09/2009 13:46

i love it.dh hates it because he knows if he'd have given in and let me call dd tallulah-id still be singing bugsy malone.but i love it,its pretty.
