Jeremy - opinions needed!

We're really struggling with a boy's name. We only had one we liked, and our DS has that! If we have another boy we are considering Jeremy, as for some reason we both seem to like it, but I don't know of any other little Jeremy's at all, and wondered if there is a reason for that! What do you think?

I think Clarkson is to blame.

hulabula · 07/09/2009 12:24

I like Jeremy. Lovely, classic name!

DaisymooSteiner · 07/09/2009 12:24

I'd be thinking of Jeremy Kyle tbh.....

boodleboot · 07/09/2009 19:45

oh heez. jeremy kyle has killed that name...how about jeremiah? Jem for short.

much classier...and not a DNA test in sight....

CakeandFineWine · 07/09/2009 19:48

Jeremy kyle here too TBH,
Or Beedle,

But famous or disliked people in your life always come to mind first.....

bodiddly · 07/09/2009 19:50

I agree with boodleboot .. Jeremiah is nicer .. I think Jeremy is a bit wet. Jem or Jed for short are both nice!

CakeandFineWine · 07/09/2009 19:50

oh Jed thats nice...

dogofpoints · 07/09/2009 20:05

Not a good name.

millenniumfalcon · 07/09/2009 20:07

jeremy definitely a bit wet, although i do have a terrible soft spot for jeremy hardy.

vess · 08/09/2009 08:05

It's an ok name. Much better than Jeremiah IMO. Am I the only one who finds the trend for biblical names ending in an -iah dull and unoriginal?

sweetnitanitro · 08/09/2009 08:14

I think it's a lovely name! My younger brother is a Jeremy, he is 11.

Fanfare · 08/09/2009 12:56

I've always had quite a sneaky liking for the name too though not entirely sure why. It's one of those names that I don't have any preconceived ideas about, I don't know what the name "says" to me, if that makes sense. I find the potential shortening Jez a little off-putting, but the whole Jeremy Kyle/Beedle/Clarkson thing wouldn't bother me.

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/09/2009 12:57

I like it very much.

countrybump · 08/09/2009 13:16

Thanks everyone, I still have a couple of weeks before I'm due, so will be mulling it over!

I don't like Jeremiah much, and I am also worried about the shorterning to Jez or Jed, but hadn't even thought of Jeremy Kyle! I don't think that worries me too much though.
