What could we use as a nickname for Imogen?

We both like Imogen but can't think of a shortening that we like. If you know an Imogen, what does she get called, other than Imogen?

I agree with llareggub. It's a beautiful name - why would you want to shorten it to something less beautiful?

Most children tend to develop a shortening or nickname, but this is something which evolves naturally, not a manufactured thing.

Why not wait until she's saying her first words and see how SHE pronounces it and use that?!

Immy

Most Imogens I know of get called Immy. But I think that nicknames should evolve naturally, rather than being decided upon beforehand. My sister thought we'd all call her daughter Stephanie 'Stevie', but she's always been 'Pootle' or 'Steps' to us.

I love the name Imogen but I think some of it's shortenings can be quite poncetastic, we eventually crossed it off of our short list because I couldn't bear to end up with a Ims or an Imo, too country set for my liking.

I know an adult Imogen - called Immy

stickylittlefingers · 07/09/2009 15:06

I knew a Mitzi-for-short, which I thought quite bo-ho (she was at college and quite bo-ho so could be the reason why!)

And I am closely related to a Gen.
