Any suggestions for biblical names

Am pg with 4th child, ds1, dd and ds2 all have biblical names, any suggestions? I also like saints names and 'classical' or literary names.

Any suggestions welcome, I have 9 long months to decide, but it will take me that long!

How biblical? Old or New Testament?

So, more Moses/Elijah/Noah

Or more Matthew/Paul/Luke?

LilyBolero · 05/09/2009 01:44

Don't mind OT or NT - the current 3 are a mixture. Would prefer not too 'Hezekiah' ish.

And it can't start with M, as both dd and ds2 do, we need a new initial!

Out of those so far, I like Luke, Ruth I like, but it is dd's middle name! Ezekiel might be just a step too far for us, custardo! And although I do like Jeremiah, Jerry will forever remind me of Margot Leadbetter shouting 'Jerrrryyyyyy'

I really like Gabriel and Gideon, and Sam as that is my own DS' name I used to know the cutest little Solomon as well. I think Noah, Aaron,Simon, and Jonah are quite nice too, and some more commonplace ones like James, Thomas, and Peter.

As far as girls go I like Hannah and Rachel. I like Miriam as well b/c I think Miri is an adorable nn, but you said no M's! Hmm...Abigail,Elisabeth, Eve, Eden? You could also go with something that's a biblical term like Hope, Grace, Faith, etc.

sockmonkey · 05/09/2009 07:38

Mine have biblical names too.
I am PG with number 3 and really wanted Abraham. < how cute baby abe > but turns out we are expecting a girl so thinking Naomi

Like Esther for a girl, so lovely and under-used I reckon.
I also know a very lovely Jonah, Saul and Isaac.

Boober · 05/09/2009 20:03

Lydia or Amos. Love them both.

Loujalou · 05/09/2009 20:05

Adam and Matthew for boys are my fave. DS has one of those names and if I ever conceive another baby and its a boy the other name will be used.

Loujalou · 05/09/2009 20:07

Also like Luke and Sam.

Not sure about girls names though.

Heard an unusual one recently, not sure how to spell it. Jeudah I think. Its from Genesis, just after Noahs ark story.

furrymonster · 05/09/2009 21:01

No! have remembered, its Jubal.

stinkypinky · 06/09/2009 09:01

Jesus? or is that too obvious?

My DD has a biblical name, and am pg with dc2 - if a boy, he will be a Solomon..
