Poppy, Daisy and Isla?

Hi
I think we have decided on Isla for DD3 due in a couple of weeks. We already have Poppy and Daisy so my only concern is that the third will feel left out of the flower theme. I was thinking Isla Molly Rose but I think Rose/Rosie has become too over-used to use it as a first name now - maybe it's just because I have two close friends with DDs called Rosie that puts me off. Lovely name but I don't want to copy and all that. Wish we'd never started down the flower route at all!
anyway, what are the thoughts on Isla?

I like Isla, but if you want to continue with the flower theme what about Iris? Lovely name and not nearly so common as Rose.

shakirashakira · 04/09/2009 11:30

I love Isla.

I also love Rosa, bit of a compromise?

shakirashakira · 04/09/2009 11:30

Or you could copy Jamie Oliver and go for Petal

GreatGooglyMoogly · 04/09/2009 11:47

Lily?

belgo · 04/09/2009 11:50

Lily is lovely. So is Violet.

belgo · 04/09/2009 11:51

And Holly.

hf128219 · 04/09/2009 12:00

Love Iris too. Violet good as well.

OrangeAnge · 04/09/2009 12:07

I think having all three with flower name is a bit twee. Isla is a great name - (I would choose it for me but doesn't go with our surname) - I don't think she'll feel left out at all!

chocolatehelly · 04/09/2009 12:22

I also love Iris and Rosa but dh won't have any of it! I do also agree that too many flowers is a bit twee! And don't go there with the Jamie Oliver thing, am not into celebs at all and was gutted when I found out he also had a Poppy and Daisy so there is definitely no Petal on the way here!

I love Violet.

diddl · 04/09/2009 13:20

And Lily.

thumbwitch · 04/09/2009 13:26

Isla is lovely
I love Rose too but it is sadly overused at the moment
Not so keen on Lily or Iris
But here's an idea - if you called her Elizabeth, or Lizzie for short, it could still be a "flower" name (also short for Lizianthus) but less obvious )
Sadly (for me) I really like the name Blossom as well but I fear DH would never take to it...

forkhandles · 04/09/2009 13:29

I love Isla

Lilyloo · 04/09/2009 13:33

I would personally stay away from another flower name tbh Isla is nice

boodleboot · 04/09/2009 14:27

actually i don't see the problem with another flower name. Isla is very popular where i live so i would avoid it like the plague but the name in itself is quite nice.

gloomysue · 04/09/2009 14:47

I think it would be nice to use another flower name. I know a Poppy, Daisy and Heather.

thumbwitch · 04/09/2009 14:54

What about Fleur? Or Flora?
Or you can use this link to pick another one if you would prefer to use a flowery name again

thumbwitch · 04/09/2009 14:56

ooh, one of my fave names has just shown up - Bryony - I forgot that was floral

diddl · 04/09/2009 15:22

I like Flora.

busybutterfly · 04/09/2009 22:33

I love the name Isla but DH is from Scotland, says it's the name of a "small town girl" (how that's bad I don't quite see but hey!)
Have a friend who had 3 girls Daisy, Lily and Poppy. Popular theme, flowers! (smile)

Ponders · 04/09/2009 22:39

Nigella? Sunday name for love-in-a-mist - very pretty flower.

I used to think Nigel Lawson had made it up but no

thumbwitch · 05/09/2009 01:02

What about Iona or even Ione? Apparently Ione is a flower name as well but less obviously so...

florence2511 · 05/09/2009 01:46

I know 3 sisters called Jasmine, Rosie and Poppy. I like the flower theme myself.

katiepotatie · 05/09/2009 01:56

Isla is lovely. It is an island in Scotland spelt Islay but pronounced Isla.
Iona is lovely too an island also.
If you like the flower theme i would go with Lily.

CheerfulYank · 05/09/2009 02:08

I think Isla is lovely. I also like Iris, Lily, Violet...you get the picture. I've always liked Marigold because of the L.M. Montgomery book "Magic for Marigold", which I read about a billion times when I was ten. Congrats on DD3!
