DP and I had sort of agreed on Maya Jo for DD2, but now I'm thinking that Maisie Jo is prettier. DP doesn't agree. What do the wise women of MN think???

Prefer Maya

Agree with you, Maisie is nicer.

GirlsAreLoud · 31/08/2009 18:19

Maisie

meemarsgotabrandnewbump · 31/08/2009 18:23

I prefer the name Maya but it doesn't go as well with Jo.

bigchris · 31/08/2009 18:24

Maya definitely
Maisie just reminds me of those crap books

mathanxiety · 31/08/2009 18:29

Are you going to call her by both names or just the first? I like Maisie or Maisie Jo, not so keen on Maya with Jo; Maya seems too Spanish/ South American to go with Jo.

Heated · 31/08/2009 18:32

I like Maya. I like Jo but sometimes a short first name takes a more substantial mn to balance it out. There is a beautiful children's book called 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibbotson and it's heroine is named Maya.

Maya Joie
Maya Jonelle
Maya Josephine
Maya Jocelyn

I take it Maya would be the first name and Jo the middle?

Tambajam · 31/08/2009 18:33

I prefer Maya. Maisie is lovely but I think it's a little girl/ baby name and Maya has more mileage.

Tidey · 31/08/2009 18:35

I prefer Maya to Maisie, but I don't think it goes with Jo.

jkklpu · 31/08/2009 20:31

Maya - lovely
would suggest a full name for a middle name, in agreement with Heated - there's also Joanna, Jocasta (I wouldn't use it, but people do), Jolene, Jody, others, I'm sure)

lal123 · 01/09/2009 11:28

thanks all - would be using Jo as a middle name - so not together. Jo is a given - naming after DPs best friend

Def like Maisie better!

bess23 · 01/09/2009 13:02

i like both of them but not the jo bit.

Heated · 01/09/2009 19:02

If you extended the Jo into a full name like Josephine, for instance, it still is honoring DP's bf (or is what you can tell him) but feminising it & making it work better with Maya.
