Well, after the disasterous post from Mumsnets baby name finder, i am going to hand type our lists - a combination of my names and dh's (will * the ones on both our lists).
I usually manage to talk him 'round to a name which is why i have included lots he hasn't yet agreed to.
'Tis very long as it is a first draught. I will do boys first and do girls on a separate post.

Ariel*
BernardCedric Clarence Clement Cosmo Django Dougal Douglas Dudley Ephraim Ernest
F ranklinForrest Harold Herbert Ishmael Japheth Jethro Mordecai Mortimer Obadiah Shem
Ulysses
Woodrow
Wolfgang

We really want something that goes with other dc's (Iris, Pearl, Eli adn Amos) and that wont be too trendy/faddy/next big thingish!
Will do girls now - thanks!

Well, missed off most of my stars so you'll have to guess which ones we both like .
They are Ernest, Bernard, Shem and Frankiln aswell as those starred!

I like Ernest (Ernie), Ishmael and Shem.

I am not keen on the others but particularly hate Dudley (think of the horrible boy in Harry Potter, the nasty city and the word dud - once you have thought of these things please drop this name!). I am not keen on Django either, not sure why. And a boy called Ariel would be teased to death.

Cosmo might be growing on me.

MrsVik · 30/08/2009 19:52

Franklin is a nice name! I also like Cedric.

annasmami · 30/08/2009 19:54

I love Clement, Cosmo and Ernest!

Is this your 5th baby? Have you considered Quentin (derived from Latin for Fifth)?

tummytickler · 30/08/2009 19:56

I like Quentin, but dh hates it! Might try for a mn, will need 2mn, one will be Josiah after dh or Edward afer dh uncle.

Ishmael goes well with your others.

janeite · 30/08/2009 19:57

I like Ernest and Mortimer only and think Mo is a lovely nn. I love Ishmael but the only ones I've known have been Muslim, if that makes any difference.

Some of the others I really don't like, especially Obadiah, Ulyses, Shem, Wolfgang and Woodrow, sorry.

Pollyanna · 30/08/2009 20:05

Clement is the nicest imo.

tummytickler · 30/08/2009 21:51

thank you - i am keeping a tally to show dh later, so any other comments are most welcome!
I cant help feeling that with ELi and Amos we should stick to other Hebrew names - wdyt?
Although there are so many lovely names!

Ariel* - like but for a girl
Bernard - like, would be a big warm caring man
Cedric - like - rather posh
Clarence* - ditto
Clement - love, like the Freud
Cosmo - love
Django* - what does it mean? - cool
Dougal, love
Douglas, like very much, I love Doug
Dudley, like
Ephraim, gorgeous
Ernest, like
Franklin, too American
Forrest, ditto - Gump
Harold, love
Herbert, like,but would be teased?
Ishmael** - love
Japheth - love
Jethro - like (Tull)
Mordecai - unsure, would grow on me, too similar to Mordor?
Mortimer, like, but sounds like a surname
Obadiah - love, love!!
Shem, like very much
Ulysses, nope - too many high expectations, how about Caesar?
Woodrow - love
Wolfgang - only if you have German family roots

Inspired boys names tummy, prefer slightly to your girls' list. Adore your dd's names Iris and Pearl, want Pearl for possible new dd as already discussed elsewhere.
