What springs to mind with this name?

Something a bit biblical about it - think it means 'princess' in Hebrew. Doesn't conjour up anything heinous. Sounds like a very nice person, if that makes sense?!

I always thought it was boring when I was younger cause it was so popular and I knew loads of others with the same name but you find very few little Sarah's about these days.

It does mean Princess too [preen]

It's hard to shorten, although I have had a few 'Sezza's' or 'Saz' and I've only known someone spell it wrong once...

My sister is called this but I've always found it a bit meh tbh. Even 30-odd years ago I thought my parents were being slightly boring calling her that.

I have a lot of work contacts and about 10 of them are called Sarah. (On the male side about 10 of them are called Paul - it's kind of the same name isn't it?)

I shorten it to Sez sometimes. I always liked the fact my name meant princess and my sisters name meant a tree!!

As a tomboy I would rather have had the tree name. So ner!

I love the name Sarah. I don't agree that its not so common now, though. I'm a primary school teacher and find that every school has a few Sarahs and they are invariably lovely!

Sarah is a classless name, too, iykwim - you come across it in all walks of life.

I don't know any Sarah's under the age of 20. But I do know a few Laura's under the age of 10. I think it's a nice baby name too.

I'm a late 70s child and every other girl was called Sarah at school (or Emma). It's a pretty name but it's the height of vanilla for me.

Same here - at my school, everyone was called Sarah, Emma, Nicola or Michelle.

In 30 years time we'll all be haviong this conversation about all the Isabels we know

I suppose I should count myself lucky I got away without having Jane or Louise as my middle name!

Love the name- but it was very popular about 30 years ago. I only know of 1 sarah under the age of 12.

To me is conjures up an intelligent and quiet girl.

I think it's a peaceful and understated name.
