The only name we like for DC2 rhymes with DC1's name!

Would that be too naff? I have a terrible feeling it would...

But I do love it! Would also consider giving it as a first name but using middle name as a nickname so the connection wasn't made all the time. (But middle name doesn't really 'flow' with surname, so don't suggest we go with that instead!)

This is all for as-yet unconceived DD

Martha and Arthur don't rhyme in lots of accents! or even languages

Mar-tha

and

Ar-thur

for me in a cdn accent.

Hello, am not sure if you are serious about the Arthur/Martha thing or I have the wrong end of the stick here but it is genuinely an expression used when talking about transvestites, particularly if they are so good at being transvestites you can't really tell ("is she Arthur or Martha?"). Seems like a bit much to put on your kids!?

Just re-read previous post, hope that didn't sound too harsh - its just I would rather know something like that than not know. Arthur and Martha are both lovely names, just maybe not in the same family! Regards, Bex

Yes, it's not so much the rhyming with Arthur and Martha imho - although that is a bit , it's more the fact that it's a well known saying... like calling your kids Ruby and Murray.

Mabel?

NorkilyChallenged · 27/08/2009 13:03

Just call her Maud/Maude (so that her "official" full name doesn't rhyme with your surname), Maude Bawdy (inventing surname for benefit of example).

Then call her Maudie at home.

I seriously don't think you can do the Arthur/Martha combo.

My much loved boys name when pg with DD1 is still my fave boys name but if we had another boy, I couldn't use it as it rhymes with DD1's name. Sigh. I feel your pain.
