There is something about the letter M...I can`t explain. I would appreciate tour oppinion.

desperatehousewife · 01/06/2005 18:13

maria rose sounds a bit like a marie rose sauce!

Mud · 01/06/2005 18:21

Maria Grace
Maria Louise
Maria May
Maria May not
Macey
Madeline
Martha
Mozelle

Marcus and Max are both great names but Maximilian and Marcel are a little poncey in my view

Thank you all for the oppinion shared - it helps a lot choosing a decent name. I am a bit curious to know why Marcel is not a liked name for a man - I personally love the sound of it. Does it sound "poncey" to all of you? Then it`s probably not a good idea... I appreciate your honesty.

secondhandRose - no, the middle name can begin with any letter

Marcel reminds me of that French mime artist, anyone remember him? Was it Marcel Marceau?

Have you got any family names you could use as middle names, that always goes down well with relatives or you could choose something mad like we did, our DD's middle name is Rosebud.

SecondhandRose, DH`s mum is called Maria so this is where this is comming from. We want to call our daughter after her. I have Emilia, Elena, Jordan and Marcian in the family.

So this guy Marcel was... too french maybe?

jenkel · 02/06/2005 00:06

I like Maria Louise

Macus - really like
Max - not convinced, would just think it of a short version of
Maximilian - which I really dont like
Marcel - way to pouncey for me

fatmomma · 02/06/2005 01:04

I have to agree Marcel is v. poncey. I liked Milo for a boy but the Tweenies have kinda ruined that one. How about Marko?

How about Maria Estelle for a girl?

It took us ages to decide on names. Even after dh was born we couldn't decide if he looked like an Archie or a Spike (after Spike Milligan), it took us three days to make our minds up

Satine · 02/06/2005 01:05

Maria Estelle makes me think of Joey Tribiani's sisters!

Miranda5 · 02/06/2005 14:27

Marcel is lovely and different and how about Maria Sylvie with the french theme?

Oil · 02/06/2005 16:10

Boys' names beginning with M from Top 100 in England and Wales 2004:

Matthew (no 12)
Mohammed (20)
Max (36)
Michael (39)
Muhammad (54)
Morgan (65)
Mohammad (72)
Mason (77)

But maybe you don't want to be in the top 100, in which case Mark, Marcus, Marco, Merrick (Adam and the Ants?) Malcolm, although not a fan of the name Malcolm... also don't like Marcel - sorry, no reason, just don't. And for middle names, why not go wild - you can keep Zambeezee a secret from little Maria until she's old enough to handle the truth
