I don't recall seeing mine on a baby names thread but its coming back I think.

Apparently it was very popular in the 80's but I only knew one other person in my year with it.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 26/08/2009 23:27

sorry wilbur, had to do it.... am not called Brenda in RL

queenofthenewyear · 26/08/2009 23:38

Mine is never used nowadays - it's one of those names that you think is really everyday, yet you can't think of anyone you know with it. I like that, though, and have called DD and DS by names that everyone knows, everyone can spell and pronounce, but there's probably not going to be anyone else their age with the same name.

NotanOtter · 27/08/2009 00:05

i know the most unlikely Brenda

wilbur · 27/08/2009 08:36

rofl greyskull
Of course now I am very interested to know what your name actually is. You'll have to slip it into one of the baby name threads and see what reaction it gets.

FuckOffDailyMail · 27/08/2009 09:24

would that be Cod, NotAnOtter?

HecatesTwopenceworth · 27/08/2009 20:21

dizzy. If you're very curious, you can email me and I'll tell you mud24 at hotmail dot co dot uk

TheBolter · 27/08/2009 20:25

Mine was on once and everyone said really nice things about it.

I didn't like my name much as I was growing up as it was neither a fashionable nor a particularly young girl's name so reading the thread made me very happy, and so pleased my parents had chosen my name.

NotanOtter · 27/08/2009 21:02

noooo fodailymail!!! no no no

she has a lovely glamourous name

MrsVik · 27/08/2009 21:36

I've not been reading the forum long, but I've not seen my name mentioned so far (see my user-name for a clue! lol).

Even if it got slated I wouldn't care though, I've grown to really love it.

FuckOffDailyMail · 27/08/2009 22:13

I was referring to a thread from a while ago NotAnOtter where we were winding Cod up that her name was Brenda
I thought you'd been on that thread, but maybe not.

TabithaTwitchet · 27/08/2009 22:20

Mine comes up quite a bit as a suggestion and has had almost universal approval whenever it is suggested.

I have heard some real-life children called it recently. It was quite unusual when I was growing up so I always jump and look round when I hear it.

wheniwishuponastar · 28/08/2009 15:41

Just seen my name described as boring.
i never thought of it as that. oh well...

thell · 28/08/2009 21:32

I've recently seen mine suggested in lists, probably by the same person who likes it!
It's surprising but really nice to see.
No-one ever comments on how much they agree though, nor is it ever suggested in the title of a thread.

Monkey74 · 28/08/2009 21:36

Oh my gosh - NotanOtter - that's my name!!!

Lorna

I hated it when I was growing up, never thought it suited me & thought it too unusual, never thought of it as plain/boring - quite the opposite...

By the way before I settled down, I was the original hardcore london clubber - so maybe I grew into it...?

NotanOtter · 28/08/2009 22:21

lovely lovely name monkey

just popped into my head

My full first name comes up quite a lot on here. I use the less common pronounciation thogh and although the name does in general get a positive reaction peple are mainly thinking of the other pronounciation when describing it.

posieparker · 29/08/2009 16:49

Mine will never come up.

5inthebed · 29/08/2009 17:02

I have never seen mine on a name thread yet either. It's a very late 70's/early 80's name. Not popular though. I was the only one at school.

nickelbabe · 29/08/2009 17:08

monkey: i happen to love the name Lorna and always wanted to be one (after Lorna Doone)

GreySkull: Maude?

rasputin: jane?

mine's really quite boyish. not seen it in the names section, but its boy-version is still very popular.
i would have preferred my middle name as my first name, but then it's too elegant and goddess-like. ( )

nickelbabe · 29/08/2009 17:09

sorry, monkey: i missed Ruth!

nickelbabe · 29/08/2009 17:09

(i'm messing this up completely) i meant rasputin
