sounds like girls name

Fluffypoms · 22/08/2009 13:57

Think its nice for a boy

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 22/08/2009 14:07

I love it. If we have another boy it'll probably be a Corin. It's the name of a now sadly deceased dh's friend.

diddl · 22/08/2009 14:59

Don´t particularly like it.
Prefer Cory.
But if you like it enough, that´s all that counts.
If I heard it, I certainly wouldn´t mistake it for a girl´s name, nor would be I think it was an awful name.

weegiemum · 22/08/2009 15:02

I really like it.

Isn't Vanessa Redgrave's brother called Corin?

Unusual but classy, IMO!

PersonalClown · 22/08/2009 15:06

I love it!
Wanted to change DS's name after seeing an actor in Stargate called Corin Nemec

diddl · 22/08/2009 15:06

Just noticed my nonsensical post!
It should read, nor would I think it an awful name!

hulabula · 22/08/2009 15:22

Sounds too much like Corinne (girl's name) to me...

MrsBadger · 22/08/2009 15:51

From the Narnia books, yes?

Nice but perhaps too easily confused with Corinne

ThingumyandBob · 22/08/2009 16:02

Thank you for your replies!!....

PersonalClown...yes, I also heard the name Corin after seeing Corin Nemic in Stargate (he's quite nice), there is also a ?Corin? in Star Wars?. Our names so far seem to have a sci fi theme so far?

I know a little boy called Corin. I didn't think I liked it to start with, but it really grew on me. Don't think it's girly at all, just not terribly common.

tummytickler · 22/08/2009 20:03

I like Corin. A friend from my teenage years has this name, and he was a great chap so it brings back fond memories, and i have only ever met 2, and they would be ib their 30's and 40's now!
Lovely!

cupcakesinthesnow · 22/08/2009 20:08

LOve it

GrimmaTheNome · 22/08/2009 20:15

I don't see why Corin would be confused with Corinne - I had a friend with the latter name and it was pronounced Coreen.

Corin was in The Horse and His boy - I think the younger twin brother of the main character who spent most of the story under the name of Shasta but turned out to be the lost prince of Archenland really called Cor. [Cor??? I'd like to see someone try that out on MN! )

Anyhow, Corin is nice and not feminine at all.

LightningBolt · 22/08/2009 20:19

Oh I like it.I also like Torin (Toryn???) for a boy.I have met a Torin and also think there is a radio presenter with this name.

Wilts · 22/08/2009 20:24

I like it.

Ds1 is not called Corin, but his name is often shortened by his friends to Cor.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 22/08/2009 20:27

I knew a Corin, I think it is a really lovely boys name. I used to have a friend called Corinne pronounced the same way, but now I think it is far nicer as a boys name. I also know a Torin, which is also a lovely name.

cktwo · 22/08/2009 20:28

I believe both Corinne and Corin are French and are the feminine and masculine versions. So it doesn't matter if Corin sounds like Corinne, IYSWIM???

DMonabonfireinadeepdarkwood · 22/08/2009 20:39

Lovely name (I knew a very good looking lovely Corin when I was younger)

dizzydixies · 22/08/2009 20:53

it was our boys choice for dd1 but we were spelling it Corin or Coran (which is an area in Scotland near Oban)

Thingumy - we also saw it there

foreverchanges · 22/08/2009 21:45

think its lovely sounds nice and is unusual without being ott

mumcah · 22/08/2009 21:48

Lovely name

spiderlight · 22/08/2009 23:20

It's a nice name, but be prepared to correct a lot of people who think you've said 'Colin'

devientenigma · 23/08/2009 09:52

Corin Nemec, yeh I fancy him too, but saw him first in the film I know my name is Steven. I have been plugging this name on here for a while along with Efram. Corin much better than Cory.
