A no from me sorry. IMO they dont flow that well together but then as is oft mentioned on here, how often does one use a middle name anyway.

MissGreatBritain · 21/08/2009 19:54

Don't mind Jean but Poppy is a bit silly and little-girly IMO. Also it sounds a bit American (like Billie Jean). Sorry!

slowreadingprogress · 21/08/2009 19:56

I think it's cool and stylish.

plusonemore · 21/08/2009 19:57

oh i saw it on the list and thought 'ooh gorgeous', really rare combination too (unlike elie may )

logi · 21/08/2009 20:01

I know a Poppy June

I like it (Jean that is)

Issy123 · 21/08/2009 20:07

I don't like either name and they don't fit together.

CloudDragon · 21/08/2009 20:08

really sorry but I would hate to be called poppy as an adult. Lovely name for a 5 year old.

chichichien · 21/08/2009 20:12

Jean is ok. Not poppy

babynamesffs · 21/08/2009 20:19

I love the name Poppy - I think it is very British as it makes me think of Remembrance Sunday I am 41 & would be very happy if I was called Poppy!

yama · 21/08/2009 20:35

I like Poppy but have to admit (like MissGreatBritain) I thought Billie Jean when I read your thread title.

Does Jean mean something to you?

What about Poppy Jane?

MaggieBeauLeo · 21/08/2009 20:48

I like Poppy! I'm not sure I like it enough to use it as a first name though. I prefer Polly. I might use Penelope Jean on the birth cert and then see if the nn Poppy/Polly/Penny emerged. I also like Jeannie which oddly was considered too frumpy and scottish by mners, but I don't understand why Jeannie is Scottish and if so why that matters.

diddl · 22/08/2009 15:19

I like Poppy.
Jean just too oldfashioned for me.

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 22/08/2009 15:24

Poppy sound too much like a decription of somehting ie it's very poppy, or too poppy Obv made up to describe somehitng that Pops alot, like being called Bubbly or Smashy.

Sorry.

But Jean is a great middle name, particuarly if it's a family name, I approve of the use of family names as middle names to please lovely GP's.

hulabula · 22/08/2009 17:24

Poppy sounds like a cute nickname, but to me it just doesn't sound elegant/gracious enough to be a woman's name.

Much prefer Penelope!

Whitetara · 22/08/2009 22:59

I like it. It's quite striking written down.
