Expecting dc2 in September, already have DS with cornish name beginning with J. We want to continue with the Cornish thing if possible but haven't been struck by anything as yet. Any thoughts?

Hayle for girl and Helston for boy ? just came from Cornwall - very nice!

ZippysMum · 17/08/2009 17:18

Kerenza means 'love' in Cornish. (for a girl). I know a few girls called Kerenza.
What about Logan for a boy?

MadameCastafiore · 17/08/2009 17:21

here loads of them.

HeadFairy · 17/08/2009 17:22

I have a friend who's daughter is called Loveday which is apparently a Cornish girls name.

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:24

I think naming the baby after place names down the road may cause a bit of here! Thanks though!

Know quite a few Kerenza/sa s... there's some really sweet names and some blinking weird ones...oh I don't know. Am thinking I may have made a rod for my own back here

Last time we were going to use Senara as the girl name, but don't feel like i can 're-use' this time, IYKWIM?

Tamsin is cornish and very pretty.

for a boy, Denzil is traditional, but not sure how it would stand today.

they are the only cornish names i know

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:27

From the list on Madame Castafiore's link, does anyone see anything they think is reaaaalllly nice?

I like th idea of Loveday... don't expect DP will though

I had a giggle at some of those on the list being of Cornish origin....eg Carlyon= crap fake beach where I went to see the Blowmonkies age 13.

MrsEricBana · 17/08/2009 17:29

Morwenna? I always think of that as Cornish and love it. Jago?

spudmasher · 17/08/2009 17:29

I like Pirran and Tegan (my dds name)

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:30

I like Denzil, but after Jethro's 'Denzil Penberthy' character would be worried people might think he was a bit dim. And don't want Den as nickname. Crap, that rules that out then.

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:31

Hendra!!! Newquay holiday park!!! Nice pool in the winter though....

Ponders · 17/08/2009 17:33

Demelza wasn't a name until the book, it was a place. Nice though.

Tamsin is Cornish I think.

You need a list of characters from Poldark!

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:33

spudmasher - - I went to the roller disco there at about 13! The problem with some of the place name ones is that when you live in Cornwall it seems a bit weird, as opposed to if you move away and want to keep a connection.

OP posts:
spudmasher · 17/08/2009 17:34

Oh the roller discos were great. What was the night club called round the side?

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:35

I know a really vile Demelza, which is a shame as it's a pretty name. You're all going to lose patience with me aren't you

Erm... I can't remember, the whole shebang was the 'Cornwall Coliseum' which sounds rather more grand than it was... and now it's 'luxury homes' with a private beach. Handy.

I am surprised Agnes id not on the list. Very nice.

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:39

now there's a thought... Maybe it's classed as French?

I'm quite liking Pasco for a boy

OP posts:
spudmasher · 17/08/2009 17:39

OOOh that's going to bug me all night now. I think the posher bit was called the Ocean Suite (snort) We had our end of school disco there......glam.

spudmasher · 17/08/2009 17:42

Pasco is lovely. But does it go with your son's name?

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:43

Gossip?

JRocks · 17/08/2009 17:43
