I used it as a middle name as it was my mum's name (she died 20 years ago).

MamaKaty · 06/08/2009 15:58

I'm afraid it brings to mind an old lady in a nursing home who wears too much bright make-up! I can't imagine it suiting a child - but each to their own!! Giving it as a middle name is a nice compromise though - it might come back into fashion in years to come and then DD could pass it on again!

MitchyInge · 06/08/2009 16:00

would go fantastically with my surname!

outs self

GrimmaTheNome · 06/08/2009 16:01

My immediate association is Munroe not Manson and certainly not old ladies.

I rather like it.

MitchyInge · 06/08/2009 16:02

it's Monroe not Munroe!

GrimmaTheNome · 06/08/2009 16:19

Pardon me, I was getting confused with the name for large peaks.

I know a Marilyn, sorry to report that she doesnt like her name and has for many years shortened it to Mandy!

MamaLazarou · 10/08/2009 12:21

Is the most beautiful and glamorous name in the world.

I would definitely be going for it had I not already wasted it on a cat.

(Incidentally, TwoHot: Mandy Rice-Davies was also a Marilyn!)

jauntinthesurf · 11/08/2009 01:23

It is a beautiful name.

nappyaddict · 11/08/2009 03:37

I like it. My first thought was of Marilyn Monroe.
