I quite like it. Reminds me slightly of double deckers, but I am chocolate obsessed

KembleTwins · 04/08/2009 21:16

Ant & Dec??

BexJ78 · 04/08/2009 21:17

and the man who used to do the business reports on breakfast news..he was very jolly though!

GeeWhizz · 04/08/2009 21:20

I like it, did consider for DS but wasn't sure about people shortening it to Dec.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 04/08/2009 21:22

I like it, but I'm Irish so I would.

maggievirgo · 04/08/2009 21:25

I like it. It doesn't seem new and 'oooh' to me though. I'm Irish. Most of the Declans I know are my own age. But I could see it going the way of Aidan and Finn... (going a bit more mainstream)

As yes, declan ...murray was it? chubby, no looker, but sharp and funny and cheerful. never see bbc anymore though.

dizzydixies · 04/08/2009 21:26

the bloke on neighbours but then thats just outed me as having crap tv taste

snala · 04/08/2009 21:35

Thats mainly positive then? Does it matter we are not Irish? Am I too worried about what others think?

At about 13 I vowed my first born son would be Declan Anthony but then I moved on to liking Blur and Oasis.
I still like Declan though, the name not so much the presenter.

Tommy · 04/08/2009 21:45

had a big crush on a boy called Declan when I was about 13

I think it's nice but more Irish than me so I wouldn't have used it myself

Deemented · 04/08/2009 22:48

I really like it and may rob it if i have a ds this time

paisleyleaf · 04/08/2009 22:53

I really like it

maggievirgo · 04/08/2009 23:07

Snala, I don't think it matters. Isabella and Sophias aren't all Italian ?

If anybody says huh? and makes you feel that you did something odd, invent a great grandfather from kerry. everybody has one of those anyway i think!

Rollergirl1 · 05/08/2009 08:51

My BIL is called Declan. It does get shortened to Dec a lot though. Have another BIL called Kieron which i've always really liked too.

snala · 05/08/2009 19:24

Thanks all. Im definately gonna use it.!

My DS is a Declan, and the first 3 people I told seriously said, "oh, as in Ant & Dec." I went home and told DH we were changing his name.

screamingabdab · 05/08/2009 19:54

I like it

Declan is a terrific name!

lena522 · 08/08/2009 18:26

Love Declan, on my list for a future DS. I wouldn't worry about it being shortened to Dec presonally.

BitOfFun · 08/08/2009 18:40

Every Declan I have known has been A Naughty Little Boy...but I still like the name

PurplePoppy · 08/08/2009 20:20

Oo yes, great name. Makes me think of Declan O'Hara from Jilly Cooper's Rivals, who is super clever and sexy in a poetic yet rugged way...right off to re-read Rivals again now

snala · 08/08/2009 22:43

Thank you! Only 2 days til I get to meet him
