Aren't there enough girls with Grace and May and Rose as middle names?! Can we stop now?

A personal bug bear ...

Did I miss a law being passed that every family with a girl must use one of these as a middle name?

I mean they're pretty names, sure, but it's getting boring now!

Use your imagination people!!

When I was little all my mates had Louise as their middle name, these names are the Louise of the moment I reckon.

Rant over. As you were

Ooh sorry don't know what happened there!

epithet · 09/08/2009 23:09

Well, indeed, ladylush. My mum chose my name on the basis that it was 'a bit different'. Seven out of the ten girls in my O-Level music class had the same name .

In fact, I blame the troubles of my entire life on this. Take heed. Tempted by Lily? Go for Lillet instead.

FGS
I hope these easily offended people haven't read any of the other threads on the name section. They might read something they won't like about their dcs names.

AitchTwoOh · 09/08/2009 23:17

FGS

that is so far from the point, fieldofplenty.

yes, very interested to hear lowrib's answer to lockets' question. is it just parents who choose names that later turn out to be popular as middle names who deserve her ire?

lollyheart · 09/08/2009 23:19

My name is clare louise born in 81

My dd middle name is louise.

fieldofplenty · 09/08/2009 23:47

It is not far from the point. Why do the offended (who appear to be in the minority here) care about the opinion of a stranger on an internet forum.
For what it's worth, I've noticed discourtesy from more than one quarter.

AitchTwoOh · 09/08/2009 23:55

you are saying that we should avoid reading name threads in case we see something insulting about our children's names... you can't see the difference between someone who has NOT YET named their child asking for opinions and a thread calling those of us who have already chosen these names boring sheep who should have some imagination etc etc? really?

and as to the utterly bogus idea that we shouldn't care about what someone thinks on an internet forum... what rubbish.

by the same token, why does lowrib care what other people call their children? why does she keep coming back onto the thread to keep insulting those of us who've chosen names of which she doesn't approve?

i've not noticed anyone being discourteous apart from lowrib and you, funnily enough. FGS. etc etc.

flatcapandpearls · 10/08/2009 00:02

Well my dd has one of those names as her first name and I really do not care what anyone thinks. I also dont know any other children with her name, not that it matters as I had very personal reaons for her name which I love.

AitchTwoOh · 10/08/2009 00:04

i think you're off the hook if it's a first name, twinnie.

fieldofplenty · 10/08/2009 00:06

You could try netmums if you don't like to be offended, I hear they're quite fluffy and don't swear either.
I just read you were told to get off the thread more than once Aitch, so off you pop.
You have been the rudest and ill mannered of all.
I think somebody used FFS earlier, not me. Yet I am the one who is told off.

AitchTwoOh · 10/08/2009 00:09

you what? i'm getting kicked off the thread? have you lost your mind?

FGS.

AitchTwoOh · 10/08/2009 00:11

I am sure I posted something on here a second ago, I may be able to pick beautiful, original even revolutionary names but I can't click "post message".

wrongun · 10/08/2009 00:17

They are overused, yes.

I assumed that's what she meant by implication, no?

flatcapandpearls · 10/08/2009 00:20

I think the word troll is so overused, people are just like sheep throwing it around. Can't we think of a more imaginative word?

lowrib, love, i think you need to take a chill pill... i wasn't talking to you.

AitchTwoOh · 10/08/2009 00:25

although now that you're here. is twinnie a sheep for calling her child one of these names? first name, mark you, so it might be okay.

fieldofplenty · 10/08/2009 00:27

The comedy just keeps on coming doesn't it my comments were directed at Aitch, who was told to leave the thread several pages back for being over emotional.

I use a variation of my name usually, but nice to know I've been stalked That's fruitloop behaviour. Utterly creepy!
