What does everyone think of Albert for a name but shortened to Bertie. Was thinking either Albert Jack or Albert William.

Bertie? not sure if is a name that belongs to anyone below the age of 70, unless they are made of licorice, sorry

Issy123 · 30/07/2009 20:01

Really nice prefer Albie to Berite, but like both. Goes well with both your middle names.

lovechoc · 30/07/2009 20:03

Not very keen on this name, sorry.

I do like Bertie though, but I keep thinking of licorice....yum.

Albert William. Great name. It's solid, manly and Bertie is cute for a kid too.

Albert is lovely and I wanted to call ds2 that, but H didn't like it. Albert William is great.

Mowfie · 31/07/2009 13:34

Lovely! My 18 month old son is Albert and he gets called Albert or Albie, occasionally Bertie. We get so many nice comments about his name. Pretty old fashioned but we love it! :-)

susie100 · 31/07/2009 14:20

I love it

hobbgoblin · 31/07/2009 14:22

Love Albert. Also know a couple of Berties and adore the nn. Also like Al, so all in all a lovely name with lovely variations.

KingRolo · 31/07/2009 14:23

Great, I'm having it if I have a boy. Prefer Albie for short though.

MamaLazarou · 04/08/2009 15:21

Bertie is a smashing name. I am a big fan of PG Wodehouse!

Love Albert. Would prefer Al or Albie for a nickname as opposed to Bertie.

HensMum · 04/08/2009 15:31

Oooh, lovely. I'd go with Bert or Bertie as a nickname.
I think Albert William is nicer than Albert Jack (Jack looks a bit odd next to Albert, a bit nicknamey IYKWIM)

DiamondHead · 04/08/2009 15:41

I think it is wonderful.

screamingabdab · 04/08/2009 16:03

Aldert Nigel sounds good, too

Love Love Love Albert .. now to persuade DH

RetroMum1 · 05/08/2009 10:01

I love it and always wanted to call a DS Bertie but DH vetoed it so we have used it for the dog instead and we are now the proud owners of an Old English Sheepdog called Albert.

I know he's a dog but lots of people do comment on what a nice name it is.

Ladyem · 05/08/2009 13:18

Love it!

CillySunt · 05/08/2009 16:00

I like Albert but not Bertie.

BitOfFun · 05/08/2009 16:06

Love it. Know an Albie (adult), very nice he is too.

Jemima123 · 05/08/2009 16:31

Like Albert William too, but Bertie is my future dog's name I'm afraid! Albie is very sweet and sounds classy in my opinion
