So we have a yellow bump I'm due 27th Oct. Although a yellow bump we are for some reason convinced we are having a boy. As a result are really strugling on girls names.

Boys:

Stanley - Would be shortented to Stan
Finley - Shortened to Fin

Finley was our fav but think its a bit common. Stan is really growing on me.

Girls:

Aisha - When trying to concive we always said if we had a girl she would be Aisha but now we have said it to a few people and not got the best reactions

Eve - My dad loves this name I quite like it too

Let me know which ones you think. More sujestions would also be welcomed too especially girls names.

Thanks

Love Stanley. It's my great grandfathers name & poss name of any future DS. Like Eve too.

artichokes · 30/07/2009 15:58

What about Iris or Isla?

PuppyMonkey · 30/07/2009 15:59

They're all ok, apart from Stanley - just not getting that as a name for a baby, but it's probably cos I've watched too much Coronation Street in my life.

Other suggestions... how long is a piece of string???? Mine are called Madeleine and Esme, but you're not allowed to have them.

janeite · 30/07/2009 16:10

If you like Eve, you may also like: Elise / Ruth / Rebecca / Evelyn / Eloise / Naomi / Esme

If you like Stanley, you may also like: Isaac / Vincent / Benjamin / Barnaby / Max / Monty

Spidermama · 30/07/2009 16:12

Stanley and Aisha are great.

Finley and Eve are just so common now. Apols to all the mums of Finleys and Eves who will be reading this but I'm sure you'll agree and possibly not mind my saying.

jellybeans · 30/07/2009 16:18

Finn and Eve.

I like all of your names, I htink Aisha might get confused for Alicia, which is pronounced very similarly here.

Not that the names you have chosen aren't lovely but similar ones:

Ava
Lara
Isla
Amba
Nieve

donandpea · 30/07/2009 16:31

Sorry to be dim but just checking how would you pronounce Isla and Amba?

OP posts:
Spidermama · 30/07/2009 16:34

Eye-la.

I haven't heard of Amba but was assuming it's as it looks.

Spidermama · 30/07/2009 16:34

People might think it's a mis-spelling of Amber.

CurlyCasper · 30/07/2009 16:37

Eve and Finlay if I had to choose.

would worry about using Stanley (Laurel and Hardy, the Eminen song, Stanley knives, Kubrick) but if you love it, use it!

Eve, Evie, Eva both popular but classic, beautiful names.

Fillyjonk · 30/07/2009 17:12

If you love Aisha and Finley, seriously, go with those.

There are far, far worse things than having a fairly common name.

That is my absolute best advice

nickelbabe · 30/07/2009 17:14

like stanley and aisha.
but eve's lovely too.
not finlay/finley cos too many around and spelling is confusing....

any boy would love to be named like flat stanley - fgs the boy was posted around the world in a letter!!

Megglevache · 30/07/2009 17:38

Spider Amba is Indian name it means mother, dd almost had it as a middle name.

donandpea · 30/07/2009 18:46

I must read the story of flat stanley again has been many years since I read it. I know babs is not very flat right now you would not manage to post us round the world at the moment. I look like I have a ball stuffed up my jumper.

Thanks for the feed back everyone Been sat here resting today have appriciated you company. Sad I know.

Stanley and Evie.

jkklpu · 30/07/2009 21:35

Eve and Fin - agree Finley/Finlay v v v popular at the moment, so how about Finbarr/Fintan/Fingal instead?

and a great EDD week: my ds1 is 23rd and ds2 26th Oct, with cousins on 21st and 23rd and grandfather on 28th!

MrsMc82 · 30/07/2009 22:33

I love finley and eve too.... They were both our choices for our lo thats due in jan until best friend named her little girl eve a few weeks ago. (not cross she didn't know we'd chosen already!!) XXX

BlueBumedFly · 30/07/2009 22:48

Finlay and Stanley were our names! How cool! I love them both but would have gone with Stanley I think. As it was we had a girl, she is Clementine.

Theteathings · 30/07/2009 23:06

Stanley I love

the others are meh

gingerbunny · 30/07/2009 23:06

what about Flynn if you think Finley maybe too popular? It sounds very similar to Fin, but it's more unusual, I love it.

hester · 30/07/2009 23:18

I love ALL those names. Sorry, not much help am I?

yama · 30/07/2009 23:21

Finlay and Aisha for me.
