How do both of you feel about Morgan?

SoccerMum · 28/07/2009 20:47

Its my current favourite boys name for a fantasy 3rd baby

There may be hope with your DH - mine wasn't sure about Gabriel and then out of nowhere I got a text from him saying it suddenly seemed completely right.

My family are Irish and it's not such an unusual name to them, so I haven't had a negative reaction about it being 'out there', also judging from the amount of people who mention it on this topic I think by the time our Gabriel's are due to go to school it will be much more common in this country.

If I could think of another name I would suggest it, but that's been part of my problem too, haven't found another that seems right (my boy was due on the 20th - is still hanging in there).

Good luck either with thinking of another or with your DH

Gabriel would be my next choice of name for my (fantasy) ds but I have been met with unfavourable reactions.
Benedict is also fab as is Ruben. Or what about Dominic or Ralf (pronounced Rayfe).

snice · 29/07/2009 23:46

Otis?

HappyTangerine · 31/07/2009 22:43

We've settled on Gabriel, it was the only name we both really loved and with 8 weeks to go we're fairly comfortable with it now. Others on our list were Raphael and Isaac. (Catholic family so we've gone the Biblical route)

I adore Gabriel. DS was going to be a Gabriel but then some friends were very rude about the name and put me off completely.
We chose Callan instead which is absolutely perfect for our DS.

Gabriel's still in the running for our next (as yet, hypothetical) DS though.

Also love Raphael and Isaac too!

I love Gabriel

what about Gideon?
Jonah/Jonus
Joshua

dizzydixies · 01/08/2009 13:07

cataline I have never heard anyone having used Callan and it was our choice for DD2 had she been a boy - delighted to know there is a wee Callan out there somewhere

Bumperslucious · 01/08/2009 14:29

Great thread. I love the names Gabriel and Zachary but DH says we can't have them as they are my brother's names so I have been struggling to come up with other similar names. I love Raphael and was thinking of Emmanual the other day, Emmanuelle for a girl is lovely too.

Oh, I'm not pregnant yet - just obsessed as ever with the quest for the perfect name. I think all of these might go on my list

Tillyscoutsmum · 01/08/2009 15:14

I love Gabriel as well but DH has said no. Why is it some men seem to dislike it so much ? Is it the "gay" thing ?

He informed me the other day he would quite like a more "gangster" name ?! We are about as far away from being gangster as possible ...

Sorry, I digress

I know a Gabriel and Reuben. I think Dominic is similar and Dom is quite "manly". I was also going to suggest Nathaniel (Nate). How about Jude ?

lotspot · 01/08/2009 15:36

Sebastian?

I like Gabriel and I think Gabe is great for a teenager too

dizzydixies · 01/08/2009 18:12

Tillyscoutsmum - what's he wanting Vinnie?!?

Tillyscoutsmum · 01/08/2009 18:36

Dizzy - spot on ! Vincent was (seriously) suggested. As was Leonard and Reggie. I thought I was supposed to be the hormonal one FFS
