I like it,love Megan as well.

What are the pp's problem with the first name having the same initial as the surname?

Scorpette · 25/07/2009 00:00

Marlie or Mali are a more feminine version of Marley - I once worked with the artist Mali Morris and she is lovely. Think Mali is the Welsh spelling, as she is Welsh, but I might be wrong. The MM works for her!

I love the name for a girl, but DP isn't keen

We had Marley shortlisted for DD but didn't go for it. Glad in the end as a mum from our ante-natal class called her DD Marley and it's only a small town!

If you like it go for it.

boodleboot · 25/07/2009 00:10

Marli is nicer and would avoid the Marley and me connotations. i think it sounds lovely....and more feminine somehow.... Marli Faith is LOVELY....

KiwiKat · 25/07/2009 00:10

Friends of ours have a dd named Marlo, after the US actress Marlo Thomas. (Was huge in the 70s, still very beautiful now. She played Rachel's mother in friends)

I know an Amalia, known as Mali...lovely name.

GrendelsMum · 25/07/2009 10:38

Marli is lovely!

pointydog · 25/07/2009 19:58

there's a gaelic name, marsleigh (prob anglicised spelling) which I always think sounds nice

devonsmummy · 27/07/2009 21:16

Isn't Mali a Hawaiian girls name?

prefer this to Marley

Merle · 28/07/2009 21:52

Merle?

DitaVonCheese · 29/07/2009 11:05

I like Marley but love love Marla and the Amalia/Mali suggestion.

notsoteenagemum · 29/07/2009 11:24

In the Will Smith film where he is the only one in New York, really can't remember the name. Anyway his Daughter in that was called Marley.
I like it and obviously don't know where you live but names like that seem to be embraced by the (and I do feel like a snobby bitch saying it)'yob' families around here.

muffle · 29/07/2009 11:29

I like it. Marley Maclean is COOL - sounds like a film star.

Another spelling is Marlee, there's a girl in some of Kate Atkinson's novels called this.

goomum · 03/08/2009 19:11

Marley Maclean is good and so is Marnie Maclean.

Go for it.

jkklpu · 03/08/2009 20:15

Merle instead?
Marley McLean sounds like a male stripper

Olivia Grace would be lovely

TULIP2110 · 03/08/2009 21:39

Or...how about Mahnie? Pronounced Marnie?

cece · 03/08/2009 21:42

No it is awful.

I quite liked Merrie for a girl when I was pg.

blushingm · 04/08/2009 11:27

i know a little boy Marley - he's gorgeous

MamaLazarou · 04/08/2009 14:47

I think it is a brilliant and very under-used name.

jambutty · 04/08/2009 14:51

Quite like it, but Marley Maclean sounds like a firm of solicitors. Sorry.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 04/08/2009 15:01

No.

And don't make it worse than it is by spelling it in a stupid way.
