I am everlastingly grateful that my mum was prevented from calling me...

Rainbow.

Really. I don't like the name she did give me, but at least once a week I think 'this job would be so much harder if my name was Rainbow'. (Though perhaps it would have given me a tougher personality?)

Is anyone else pleased to have missed out on a name?

Caveat to all Rainbows / mums of Rainbows on here - I'm sure you / your daughter will love it.

dad wanted to call me something normal, emma or emily i think. mum wanted polly. im glad mum won because there were loads of emmas and emilys at school, but i was the only polly

if i had been a boy i would've been called Drummer

Heather.

The name itself is fine but pair it with my maiden name (Scottish word for valley) and it sounds like some kind of mythical place where the haggis roam

If I was a boy I would have been Alistair which my brother got.

Come on, isn't anyone here going to admit to calling their child Rainbow? I want a fight.

Someone has now said on this thread that their daughter has the name I got instead of Rainbow, and that I don't like either. Poster who shall be nameless, your daughter's name is vile. Call her Drosophilia instead

lets all just post our DCs names and we can all say nasty things about each others

I've just searched for 'Rainbow' on the Baby Name threads, and it looks like my mum was loopier than anyone on MN. Only Jules Oliver is daft enough to call a baby Rainbow.

Fanjo - oh good, I like those threads.

It's Friday evening - lets all uncork the wine and start insulting each other.
