Ingrid or Astrid?

DH prefers Ingrid and I prefer Astrid. We're Scottish and have no Scandinavian connection (or Orcadian for that matter) other than a fondness for holidays there. What do you think?

They both have a harsh sound to me.

Although I like Inga!

I knew a great Astrid at work. She didn't take any sht and could always be counted on to speak her mind. She resigned cos she thought the new marketing director was a twt - he was but she was the only one with the balls to do anything about it - she went off to Switzerland to become a ski instructor after this. Probs TMI......

Always thought it a was a beautiful name. Much prefer it to Ingrid but personal taste

Was watching Porridge last night. now she wasn't in the episode but isn't 'our Ingrid' Fletcher's daughter - the one who comes and tells him mums gone 'orf with another man'. But why a daughter with such an unusual name?

But I digress. prefer Astrid on balance. both slightly harsh somehow. Knew an Inge (Scandinavian - soft g sound) - maybe short for Ingrid.
