Bear in mind I am 12 days overdue and about to leave for my induction in the next couple of hours. I WILL defend fiercely.

I may also be a bit in labour so criticise at your peril. You hear that soupy?!

Victoria?

HolyGuacamole · 21/07/2009 10:48

Hmmmmm. Not sure hobbgoblin. Where I come from, plum can be a bit of an insult - to say someone is a plum is to say they are silly or daft......

No offense though

Good luck with the birth!!!

BonsoirAnna · 21/07/2009 10:48

Plum is a nickname for Victoria.

PlumBumMum · 21/07/2009 10:49

Of course I think its a superb name

Mintyy · 21/07/2009 10:49

I quite like it. But, really, only if you are very very posh.

(good luck btw! )

MovingOutOfBlighty · 21/07/2009 10:49

Good luck with the baby.

But fgs please make Plum short for something. It is a cute nickname or shortening but your dear LO is going to grow up to be 50 one day and unless you want her to stride about all day in Joules clothing, braying at her horses I think it is a very odd name.

Overmydeadbody · 21/07/2009 10:49

I think as a nickname it is fine.

As a real name it would be a bit cruel. What if she grows up to be rather short and dumpy? It would be too cruel.

cheesesarnie · 21/07/2009 10:50

i love it

VinegarTits · 21/07/2009 10:50

God no, are you delarious?

Good luck with the birth

Astrophe · 21/07/2009 10:51

nup. It doesn't sound namey, in the way that some nouns can. And rhymes far to easily with bum, which wont be a good thing.

shonaspurtle · 21/07/2009 10:51

Call her Victoria and use Plum for a nickname.

Plum is used to mean daft round here as well - "you plum" (not you)

Marthasmama · 21/07/2009 10:54

When I was at school, plum was another name for testicle. Ahhh, look at baby Bollock.

Deemented · 21/07/2009 10:54

You've been watching too much Balamory, haven't you?

hobbgoblin · 21/07/2009 10:55

I could re-visit Velvet from another thread of mine and combine?

A Velvet Plum is definitely a bollock.

Plum round these here parts is a fool/somebody a bit silly.

Victoria Plum rocks though.

hobbgoblin · 21/07/2009 10:59

SoH, is it really? Woudl Plum Velvet avoid the association?

Plum is bollock, Velvet is fanjo related. What is wrong with me and the genitalia fixation I wonder..?

I could do Victoria Plum, but is a bit waaaaaaay out possible.

I quite like it As a word, it's lovely. In late, overdue pregnancy I toyed with Cherry (as a middle name ) again.

MovingOutOfBlighty · 21/07/2009 11:02

I think Plum is simply a 'shortening' for Victoria.
Depends on whether you like Victoria.
I have a long name that I am not that keen on for my DD so I could have the shortened version but the long one as back up just incase she hated it one day.

abitclueless · 21/07/2009 11:06

I like it. Good luck

ExpositionDesMains · 21/07/2009 11:15

I do like it acksherly. I know two Cherrys in rl Tinker, one has a sister named Brandy.

My only reservation is that 'Plum' to me means fool.

Know of a baby Japonica born recently. That would fit your genitalia fixation when abbreviated.

MamaLazarou · 21/07/2009 11:47

Awful, awful, awful, for so many reasons.

Thunderduck · 21/07/2009 11:57

It's awful.

suwoo · 21/07/2009 12:04

I actually really like it. It is very posh though.

Good luck

SouthMum · 21/07/2009 12:20

No, never. Plum = bollock.
