Oh I LOVE Rupert. Second fave from your list is Kit and next is Jasper. I don't like Stanley or Hamish.

twoluvlykids · 19/07/2009 18:06

Jasper, Hamish if you're from Scotland

MrsBadger · 19/07/2009 18:07

never pick a name DH hates, he will be bitter forever

Kit is not a name, it is a nickname for Christopher

Jasper is fine if you are living in Clapham, darling, and he will go to prep school. Otherwise no.

Hamish is the only one I would countenance and then only if you have a scottish connection

NotSoRampantRabbit · 19/07/2009 18:08

Rupert is absolutely fab.

kittywise · 19/07/2009 18:08

Stanely's the only one I would choose, the others sound a bit 'poncey'

BitOfFun · 19/07/2009 18:09

Kit is nice, but I would go Christopher and just shorten it to that.

Rupert is vile and borders on child abuse IMVHO.

RetroMum1 · 19/07/2009 18:12

DH thinks Rupert is too Poncey too!. We would use Christopher on birht certificate for Kit then it always gives them the option to use it later if they'd like too.

That's my issue with Hamish were not from Scotland but lived there for several years and that's why we like it but not sure it would work so well in London.

MrsBadger your not far off our location!!. That's the problem with Jasper, it is quite popular around here!.

My fav I think is Kit or Stanley.

Gilbert

diedandgonetodevon · 19/07/2009 18:15

They are all nice names but I love Rupert or Kit/Christopher.

tearinghairout · 19/07/2009 18:17

as died/devon

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/07/2009 18:17

Kit, Rupert or Jasper. Not Hamish or Stanley.

NotSoRampantRabbit · 19/07/2009 18:17

Oooh hurrah - have never been accused of child abuse on MN before.

An important milestone has been reached.

RetroMum1 · 19/07/2009 18:18

Cyrus
Titus

janeite · 19/07/2009 18:29

Barnaby is delicious! In fact, I told dp and the dds that my mythical ds will now be Barnaby but they were not impressed.

Cecil - nope.

RetroMum1 · 19/07/2009 18:31

Not that keen on Barnaby as the nn would be barney, like the big purple dinosaur!!!

HerHonesty · 19/07/2009 18:32

i like them all bar hamish but like you my DH would not go for rupert (bear, posh). particularly like kit.

magbags · 19/07/2009 19:21

Kit is lovely. It is the only one I would choose from your list tbh. Not keen on any of the others.

LaDiDaDi · 19/07/2009 19:25

My order of preference is...

Kit
Hamish
Stanley

Rupert
Jasper

Though I don't hate any of them Kit, Hamish and Stanley are a lot nicer than Rupert and Jasper imo.

audley · 19/07/2009 19:41

Wonderful choices, the only one I'm not keen on is Stanley. I have a Barnaby and have not had any reference to the purple one in RL!

earlyriser · 19/07/2009 19:42

Now you see, i love Hamish, but i am scottish! Don't realy like the others tbh

brimfull · 19/07/2009 19:52

Kit-good name but it is nickname

Stanley-will always be an old geezer dribbling from both ends to me..sorry

Hamish-great if you're scots

Jasper -great if you're poncy

Rupert- ok

Barnaby- lovely

myredcardigan · 19/07/2009 20:46

Kit is fab but would need to be Christopher. Hamish is good but/and slightly posh. I'm not so keen on Rupert but it's ok. I don't like Jasper at all. Makes me think of oranges. Stanley will always be Emily Brown's rabbit.
