What do people think of:

Rowan and
Theo

as potential boys names? We already have an Olivia and a Matilda.

We had Rowan on our list, so I like that one

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2009 15:13

Theo is ds's name and is fab as is Rowan
I love Matilda btw

hulabula · 11/07/2009 15:14

I like Rowan!

Theo/Theodore is ok, but a little dull imo.

JulesJules · 11/07/2009 15:18

love Theo, goes well with your girls names (which are Fab)

Rowan is OK, don't like as much as Theo.

Amanda1977 · 11/07/2009 15:35

My daughter Freya would have been a Rowan had she been a boy. It's Cornish and means "little red head". This would have been quite apt as I am one myself and from a family of gingernuts!

MrsSeanBean · 11/07/2009 15:42

My theory is that names which end in 'O' for a boy are all pretty good. Altough Rowan is OK as well. Theo, Bruno, Otto, Leo, Cosmo etc.

Come to think of it, girls' names which end in "A" are all pretty good too, at least those which immediately spring to mind - Anna, Flora, Cordelia, Antonia, Octavia, as well as your two choices OP.

Maybe I have discovered a new rule.

hockeypuck · 11/07/2009 15:55

I'm not so much a fan of Rowan. Only because there was a Rowan at my school when I was 7 and he was a nasty weird little thing.

I am biased over Theo - I have a Theo and 3 years on I still love his name. It is unusual (he'll be the only Theo in his primary school) but not too unusual that people don't know how to spell it, what gender name it is or shorten it to something completely different and normal.

I think Mrs SeanBean is right with her theory. Short names ending in O do suit boys

janeite · 11/07/2009 16:07

I love both of them - so am no use at all to you!

How about Rowan, with Theo as middle name?

jellybeans · 11/07/2009 16:55

I like Theo alot but not keen on Rowan for a boy (love it for girls though).

LynetteScavo · 11/07/2009 16:58

Theo plus it goes well with your girls names.

I know a Theo and a Rowan - like both of them. Think either of them go with your girls. Sorry, that's entirely unhelpful

dizzydixies · 11/07/2009 17:26

both nice but prefer Rowan with your girls names

yummytummymummy · 30/07/2009 12:56

My little boy is called Rowan, I think its a lovely name (obviously!) and we got the idea from a bagpipe tune my husband plays called the 'Rowan Tree'. We also like Rowan Atkinson (fabulous in Oliver!)

flowerybeanbag · 30/07/2009 12:57

Rowan is gorgeous.

phdlife · 30/07/2009 12:59

I like Theo pronounced the Dutch way (Tay-oh) but that's just me.

donandpea · 30/07/2009 13:06

I love the name Rowan. We said it for us too but with our sername it sounds very silly
