Jolyon and Holly are both characters in the "Forsyte Saga"

Jolyon has two children, Jolly and Holly IIRC, so people may well make the connection and think you went for it because of the book.

clemette · 07/07/2009 16:24

Hooly and Jolly?

clemette · 07/07/2009 16:25

Sorry for the typo - would Holly and Jolly not put you off?

hmm not sure to be honest. I don't hate it but just not sure.. plus buttercup has a point about jolly and holly...

MamaLazarou · 08/07/2009 09:33

Jolyon is a very silly name.

jellybeans · 08/07/2009 10:34

I really don't like that name at all plus it does not go with Holly.

WinkyWinkola · 08/07/2009 10:35

Makes me think of a used car sales man.

ninedragons · 08/07/2009 10:36

I like it but it REALLY doesn't go with Holly.

Worzsel · 08/07/2009 10:38

I have a good friend called Jolyon.

We all call him Joe Lion, Mr Lion .. or just Joe. Never Jolly.

I like it

Joe and Holly go well i think.

ihavenosecrets · 08/07/2009 10:44

Jolyon sounds like the parents are trying too hard to be upper middle class.

ihavenosecrets · 08/07/2009 10:45

I love Holly though.

Don't think you can have Holly and Jolly.

boodleboot · 09/07/2009 16:19

how on earth do you pronounce it? i thought it was jolly-on? my mum used to tell me to get a jolly-on when i was getting ready for school...

ButtercupWafflehead · 09/07/2009 19:58

No, it's Joeleeonn, all syllables the same length. That's how I say it, anyhow.

CarGirl · 09/07/2009 20:01

Jo lee on here too. I know one and it's fine not sure people will realise the Jolyon/Holly connection, always shortened to Joe.

Frasersmum123 · 09/07/2009 20:30

I dont like it - sorry.

thell · 14/07/2009 11:20

I like it!
But yes, not as Jolly. Joe is fine.

I've never read The Forsyte Saga.
