Too much like Daddy's name?

DH is Sebastian - nothing I can do about it!

We've both always loved Tristan and although we have another option, we always end up coming back to it.

Now with three weeks to go, I just saw the two names side by side and I fear wonder if they're too similar?

Am I being silly? For what it's worth DH is Seb to nearly everyone but his mother anyway.

Go for it. They are definitely different names.

I like both.

Not too similar at all.

VAB · 03/07/2009 14:14

Think they are fine - wouldn't worry about it.

Can I ask does your husband's name get shortened at all? We love Sebastian as a name, but not keen on Seb which we worry he would end up being called?

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 14:16

Yes all will be fine. They will be Seb and Tris.

MamaLazarou · 03/07/2009 14:17

I think they sound just fine together.

Thanks everyone.

VAB - he is Seb, but it's by choice. His mother calls him by his full name, but in most cases he introduces himself as Seb. His brother was always Mat, but then decided he wanted to be Mathew and nearly everyone calls him by his full name now. I think people will follow your lead!

Tristan doesn't sound like Sebastian. My cousin's son is called Tristan ('Tris') and he's a wonderful young man - with a great name

VAB - I know a Sebastian who gets called Baz. I would prefer Seb myself, though!

dizzydixies · 03/07/2009 17:44

absolutely fine together

Firawla · 03/07/2009 21:31

not really similar at all

simplesusan · 04/07/2009 22:51

I don't think they are too alike so I would use the name.

Kaylo · 05/07/2009 13:38

Tristan is a lovely name that isn't often used nowadays (I think).

Good strong name!
