Sorry I thought of Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter

Still - I don't get a say, tis your LO

Fimbo · 26/06/2009 14:24

Truly truly awful.

Don't mind Jean for a middle name.

PortBlacksandResident · 26/06/2009 14:25

I like it - it's pretty but doesn't end in a ee ie ey etc. Maud has a similar feel.

My first mini was called Myrtle .

tummytickler · 26/06/2009 14:26

I have resisted Harry Potter in all ints forms so i have no idea who Moaning Myrtle is? Is she a big character? Would a young Myrtle be reminded of this forever and by everyone?

i love the name.

foxinsocks · 26/06/2009 14:28

we had a myrtle the turtle

and friend birtle

ChocolateRabbit · 26/06/2009 14:29

Myrtle in Harry Potter is a very annoying ghost who lives in the toilets - regularly gets flushed.

Moaning myrtle was my first thought too.

Iklboo · 26/06/2009 14:29

Moaning Myrtle is a ghost that lives in the girls' toilets and, well, moans all the time (as in whinges)

gloomysue · 26/06/2009 14:32

I really like it.

PortBlacksandResident · 26/06/2009 14:34

Not a big character though - i've read all the books and it never occurred to me.

Ondine · 26/06/2009 15:24

The Harry Potter thing would stop me. 90% of children read those farking books and to be named after the toilet ghost is not the best of starts.

What about Sorrel? Or Maeve or Martha?

womma · 26/06/2009 15:51

Myrtle Jean is lovely.

I used to know someone with a mini called Myrtle...I'm sure it's not you PB!

PortBlacksandResident · 26/06/2009 16:04

There's prob quite a few Myrtle Minis out there. I was at Loughborough at the time - ring any bells? .

PortBlacksandResident · 26/06/2009 16:06

Oh and i painted her psychedelic - so a bit of a give away.

piscesmoon · 26/06/2009 16:19

It suits a mini. I think that a person would have to be about 60yrs before they 'grew' into it!

stillstanding · 26/06/2009 16:20

No, seriously, no

niccibabe · 26/06/2009 16:26

How about one of these instead?

Mirren
Miriam
Mariam
Mariama
Marianne

Fimbo · 26/06/2009 16:29

It's also the name of a street where I live

MamaLazarou · 26/06/2009 16:48

It's a brilliant name.

Thunderduck · 26/06/2009 16:58

Noooo. It's awful.

elvislives · 26/06/2009 17:19

You can't be serious?!

What's with this fashion for Jean too? It's ghastly.

mumzy · 26/06/2009 17:35

Moaning Myrtle is a jokey character in Harry Potter and not a good one I think the potential for teasing will be high

tummytickler · 26/06/2009 17:35

Oh - it was me posting about Jean a while back too - it is still in our top 3 (along with Hilda and Aphra).
Maybe I am ghastly

The first thing that popped into my head was myrtle the turtle.

Really don't like it, sorry.

Tambajam · 26/06/2009 17:52

I don't like it. Sounds like someone spitting out a bad olive.
